Introduction to WWII Lesson Reflection

My intro to WWII lesson was a very content driven, lecture based lesson. In my junior year I
wasnt aware of all the strategies in a class that I am now and the classic lecture and take notes
lesson is what I defaulted to. I tried to include a little technology by having a clip in the
beginning serve as the lessons hook, but the majority of the lesson was me simply explaining the
information on each slide. While I believe the PowerPoint was useful in giving the students
valuable content about how and why the war started it was also dense. I should have split the
lesson up by having a student-centered activity in the lesson as well so that the students could not
only get a break from slide after slide of information, but also so that they could do some handson learning. Most of the questions were simply a regurgitation of information from the
powerpoint; only the last question had students draw their own conclusions so I certainly could
have improved in that regard.
