A) Whole Class
This unit was on shapes and was designed to help students learn
shape name, and the various ways to identify them. For the pre- assessment
students were to review the names of shapes and then take a pre-test on the
information that was going to be taught. The student perform fairly well on
the pre-test. The class average for the pre-test was 82.5.The median score
was an 83 and the mode was a 79, 83, and 89. The students scored higher
than what was expected. The low test scores came from lack of following
directions and most students seem to struggle with vocabulary. This allowed
me to see that vocabulary needed to be the main focus when teaching this
unit. For the during-assessment, the students were required to create a
picture using just 2-D shapes. The student all received a 100 if they turned
the picture in. One student was not in school therefore was unable to turn in a
picture. The class average for turning a picture in was 100%. The students
were also graded on rather or not the shapes were drawn correctly. The mean

for the shapes being drawn correctly was a 98%. The students last
assessment for the during portion of the unit was the writing. The writing was
graded on rather or not the number of side and vertices were correct. Also
capital letters and punctuation with complete sentences. The mean for that
portion of the during-assessment is 86%. For the post assessment the
students were given a chapter test. The students were given a grade on the
test. The class average for the test was an 88. The students showed progress
throughout the unit. The class average on the test with up 5 points. Over all I
feel the students enjoyed the unit and learned a lot from it.
B) Individual Students:
a. Low student: The low student is an ESOL student. This student received
one on one testing for the pre and post assessment. The student
unfortunately did not grow, but did stay at the same level. The student
failed to comprehend vocabulary on the test. When said allowed the
student could give the correct answer, but on the test not so much. For
the during portion of the unit the student was successful. They were
able draw most of the shapes in the picture and correctly counter the
number of vertices and side to the shapes used. Overall I believe the
student did show some growth as far as being able to name the
shapes. According to the review before the pre- test the student was
unable to identify any shapes. The student scored and 67% on both the
pre and the post test. The student scored an average of 75% for the
during- assessment.
b. Middle student: The middle student is my average student. The
student during the unit show progress over all. In the pre-assessment
the student scored 78%. The student made simple mistake while
taking the assessment, and those mistakes cost them. The student in
the during portion of the unit performed higher than most of the other
students in the class the overall average for this assessment was a
91%. The student appeared to understand the lesson and showed that
they were ready to move forward. For the post-assessment, the
student scored a 100% on the test. The student progressed
tremendously, I vocabulary and shape identify. They mastered the
objective.
c. High student: The high student is the student that typically scores
higher than the class average or has the highest score in the class. The
student started with scoring a 100% on the pre-test. This allowed me
to see that the student needed to be pushed and had already
mastered most skills on the objective. The student worked on harder
task in the during portion of the unit and was held to a higher
standard, based on pre-test scores. For the during-assessment the
students received and average of 95%. The student continued to be
successful. For the post-assessment chapter test the student received
and 94%. The post test was a little more difficult, but the student
rushed through and made a careless mistake that caused them to

receive that grade. Over all the student knew the material and could
have used a more difficult assignment.
