Classroom Management Plan

This classroom management plan is for my 2nd grade class at Andrew Maier
Elementary School. My goal for using this management system is to encourage the
students to work together to create an appropriate learning environment by keeping
themselves accountable and striving towards expected behavior in the classroom.
This plan uses positive reinforcement to help motivate students to follow the
procedures for being ready to learn, and encourages positive social interactions to
meet their goal. This plan will not replace the school-wide behavior plans such as
the clip system or the paw system, but will be used to supplement these
management plans.

Materials:
Poster with rules
Marbles
Team containers

Procedures:

I will first explain to students that we are going to be implementing a new

system that will hopefully help us to be ready to learn during lessons.
I will then go over the poster with the following rules:
Are you Ready to Learn?
1. Eyes are watching
2. Ears are listening
3. Voice is quiet
4. Body is still

Tell the students that they will now be working in a team with other students;
each group (Group 1, group 2, group 3, group 4) will now be referred to as a
team.
Show the students the marbles and their team containers and explain that
their goal is to get the most marbles in their container at the end of each
week.
Tell students that they will get a marble in their container each time the
teacher sees them Ready to Learn first. If every member of the team is

following directions and is following the procedures on the poster before the
other teams, they will receive a marble in their container.
At the end of the week (on Friday) the teacher will count the marbles in each
teams container. The team with the most marbles will be the winner for that
week.
The winning team will have the opportunity to pick one of three prizes:
o A free homework pass (good for one homework assignment)
o 5 extra minutes of recess
o A prize from the prize box
The students in the team must agree or vote on a prize for that week.
The teacher will create a graph and the students will color in their spot on the
graph at the end of the week if they won.
This will continue every week until my placement is finished. At the end, the
students will be able to see which team was the grand winner by interpreting
the graph.
