Modern Terrorism Related to ISIS
The Islamic militant group ISIS, formerly known as Al-Qaeda in Iraq, and recently
rebranded as the so called "Islamic State", has killed over 2,000 innocent people in June of 2014.
This overwhelming number is only a small section of the mass number of innocent people killed
by the Islamic State. This terrorist group has recently been all over the news, showing many
films of executions and bombings, and the world wants to know - who is ISIS? The terrorist
group ISIS causes much havoc around the world, and without stopping their acts of terrorism, the
group will continue to show many acts of injustice towards innocent people.
The terrorist group ISIS has committed many acts of terrorism towards innocent people
to this day. CNN reports that ISIS is known for killing dozens of people at a time and carrying
out public executions, crucifixions and other acts. It has taken over large swaths of northern and
western Iraq (ISIS Fast Facts). This terrorist group has gained extreme power, and has grown
out of control in Iraq, killing thousands of people each month. Their leader, Abu Bakr alBaghdadi, Formed the militant group in Salaheddin and Diyala provinces north of the Iraqi
capital before joining al Qaeda in Iraq (ISIS Fast Facts). His terrorist group has executed
many people on camera, and released it to the public to gain strength and arise fear among
people around the world. ISIS has committed many crimes such as, On November 3, 2014, the
Iraqi government announced ISIS militants have killed 322 members of the Albu Minr tribe in a
recent series of executions. Also, On February 20, 2015, three simultaneous suicide car bomb

blasts killed at least 30 and injured more than 40 in Gobba, Libya (ISIS Fast Facts). ISIS has
killed thousands of innocent civilians through attacks such as bombings and shootings to show
their power in Iraq, and if they are not stopped, the terrorist group will continue to kill and gain
more and more power with every execution.
The Islamic State has gained control of many bordering countries and continue to gain
new members secretly, which keeps the terrorist group in power. From June 10th to June 24th
2014, ISIS has taken control of Mosul, Tikrit, Al-Qaim, as well as three other Iraqi towns
through many violent acts of terrorism (ISIS Fast Facts). ISIS continues to fight for more
power and attempt to gain surrounding land through acts of violence and torture. According to
The Huffington Post, 30 to 50 thousand militants are now fighting with the Islamic State, and
many of these people have been forced to join while others have been recruited from around the
region and beyond. The terrorist group is looked upon as cruel and insane by other countries
around the world, and it is also said that, Many nations around the world are actively fighting
ISIS, and others have unleashed attacks towards the military power (Wing). The ISIS group has
a great amount of power in Iraq and, The approximate value of the Islamic State's cash and
assets, according to estimates from terrorism experts, is two billion dollars, and the group is
acquiring more and more every day (Wing). Through excessive fighting and murders, the
Islamic State has gained power and revenue over a short period of time, and must be stopped
from further expansion.
Overall, the terrorist group ISIS has caused a large amount of distress around the world,
killing a large amount of innocent people every day. The Islamic State continues to use hostages
and murders to threaten many people and get what they want. Many people around the world are
engaged in battle with ISIS, but the group continues to gain new members and take innocent

lives. Throughout the information stated, it is shown that The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria is a
cruel terrorist organization, and if their destruction upon nearby countries continues to occur, it
could result in a catastrophic war.
