Q3: Does the teacher have any notable strengths or weaknesses not covered by the previous
questions?
Jonna is an amazing teacher. We talk about controversial topic and she keeps the room a safe place for
individuals to express their options. She has a neutral perspective which makes learning in her class a great
experience because there is no right answer to an ethical issue. Also looking back on the course Jonna
introduced us to so much material and so many topics. However, it was not overwhelming.

Q6: What is an example of a unit, lesson or activity that you thought was particularly successful in
helping you learn? Specifically what did you learn that you did not know before?
I loved when we got to debate and argue about applied ethics. God I've just learned so much. I learned about
cloning and GMOs

Q3: Does the teacher have any notable strengths or weaknesses not covered by the previous
questions?
To elaborate, at times the class felt a little repetitive in structure, hence the "sometimes". I would also like to
emphasize that you do a good job recognizing student problems and that I feel comfortable asking for an
extension.

Q3: Does the teacher have any notable strengths or weaknesses not covered by the previous
questions?
Jonna is great because she really understands the students. While this may be vague, i intentionally mean it in
the most broad sense. She can sympathize with us, she recognizes that we are experiencing a lot of work
outside and stress, etc.

Q6: What is an example of a unit, lesson or activity that you thought was particularly successful in
helping you learn? Specifically what did you learn that you did not know before?
I liked every part of this class. I loved the justification statements and i felt i learned a lot form the repetition of
referencing different ethical frameworks. I also learned a lot from the research paper because i got the
opportunity to delve into a specific topic that i was interested in. I also liked the lab at the end of the term
because it really gave us an opportunity to get hands on with a project.

Q3: Does the teacher have any notable strengths or weaknesses not covered by the previous
questions?
Very sensitive to student problems. Consistently moves deadlines that would be difficult for students to meet.
Q4: How can I improve my teaching so that students will learn more?
Not specifically related to learning more, but I think it would be interesting to take more student input on the
bioethical issues that interest them most.

Q6: What is an example of a unit, lesson or activity that you thought was particularly successful in
helping you learn? Specifically what did you learn that you did not know before?
I liked all the work we did with genetics. It combined my favorite parts of ethics with my favorite parts of
biology, and I learned a lot about gene editing in the process.

Q3: Does the teacher have any notable strengths or weaknesses not covered by the previous
questions?
Jonna did a great job of providing a variety of different types of class activities, class never felt boring. She did
a great job in causing me to be really interested in everything I was learning.

Q6: What is an example of a unit, lesson or activity that you thought was particularly successful in
helping you learn? Specifically what did you learn that you did not know before?
The golden rice debate and ethical justification statement solidified; all of my knowledge of debate structure,
my passion for the topic, ethical justification statement structure, and I overall feel like I could argue against it
with someone very knowledgeable on the topic.

Q3: Does the teacher have any notable strengths or weaknesses not covered by the previous
questions?
Jonna is awesome. she really knew the subject matter and gave us enough guidance so that we were
confidant about what we were learning but still had opportunities to figure stuff out on our own. The homework
always seemed relevant and helpful and we always reviewed it. However, I think one weakness was giving us
a little more warning about ethical justification statements and due dates. I wish that we had continued reading
about Henrietta as well.

Q6: What is an example of a unit, lesson or activity that you thought was particularly successful in
helping you learn? Specifically what did you learn that you did not know before?
I think the golden rice debate was very benefical in helping me understand the science of golden rice and the
ethical issues surrounding it. Hearing from all the different groups made the formation of my opinion on the
subject much stronger and i felt that i had become an expert on subject. I learned how a formal debate works,
the different stakeholders opinions and positions, and how prevalent bioethics is in the real world today.
