SOL: 4.7 (a-c) SWBAT investigate & understand the organization of the solar system. Key
concepts include: a) the planets in the solar system; b) the order of the planets in the solar
system; and c) the relative sizes of the planets.
Hook: Which planets are the outer planets?
IA Practice Quiz- TW guide students through sample test questions. SW respond on
notebook paper or whiteboards, and practice test-taking strategies.
Criterion: With guidance, students will respond orally to review questions on
the Solar System, Inner Terrestrial Planets, Gas Giants and the Dwarf Planets
with 100% accuracy.

Tuesday

SOL: 4.7 (a-c) SWBAT investigate & understand the organization of the solar system. Key
concepts include: a) the planets in the solar system; b) the order of the planets in the solar
system; and c) the relative sizes of the planets.
Hook: List the planets in order, starting with the closest to the sun.
Students will practice ordering the planets from the sun, and from smallest to biggest.
Independently and without notes, students will then glue down two sets up plants,
ordering first from the sun and then smallest to biggest.
Criterion: Independently, students will order the planets starting with the first
from the sun and then smallest to biggest with 80% accuracy.

Day 5

SOL: 4.7 (a-c) SWBAT investigate & understand the organization of the solar system. Key
concepts include: a) the planets in the solar system; b) the order of the planets in the solar
system; and c) the relative sizes of the planets.
Hook: List the planets in order, starting with the closest to the sun.
SW finish gluing down two sets of planets. As students finish they will buddy study for
test tomorrow. Once all students are finish we will review for test tomorrow.
Criterion: Independently, students will order the planets starting with the first
from the sun and then smallest to biggest with 80% accuracy.

IA Quiz- (PSES 4.7 abc Quiz) SW respond to questions about the Solar System, Inner
Planets, Gas Giants and Dwarf Planets.
Criterion: Independently, students will respond to test questions on the Solar
System, Inner Terrestrial Planets, Gas Giants and the Dwarf Planets with 80%
accuracy. (100% after corrections)
SOL: 4.8 (a, b, d) SWBAT investigate & understand the organization of the solar system.
Key concepts include: a) the motions of Earth, the moon, and the sun; b) the causes for
Earths seasons and d) the relative size, position, age, and makeup of Earth, the moon and
the sun.
Hook: What is the moon? What is the sun?
Sun, Earth, Moon Power Point- TW guide students through slides to discuss Rotation,
Revolution, Tilt and Sun, Moon, Earth- Size & Make Up. SW fill in their note pages.
SW then buddy read from the text book C66- C71.
Criterion: With guidance, students will complete note pages from power point
with 100% accuracy.
