Reflection:
After looking at the pre-assessments I
need to meet with some students who
may need some extra instruction and
assistance. Before I move forward in
the unit I need to meet with struggling
students to check for understanding.
Overall I am very pleased with the
students pre-assessments. Students
loved seeing pictures of Bald Eagle.
They loved sharing with their buzz
buddy.

and foster patriotism in the U.S. Statue of Liberty
Reflection:
Students liked that the Statue of
Liberty is made of copper and
connected it with the coins unit they
are learning in math. They also liked
being able to fill out the anchor chart
with the marker.
When I met with students today each
one already understood and I did not
have to reteach.

Reflection:
Students loved the hook. They were
fascinated that it has 897 stairs. None
of them had ever been there. They
enjoyed the video. I ended up drawing
a Washington Monument on chart
paper and created a chart similar to a
bubble chart. They enjoyed telling me
the facts they knew and seeing their
facts on the paper.
I had to reteach the Monument with
two of the struggling students.
Tomorrow morning, I will have to meet
with them again to see if they retained
the information.

Reflection:
This group of students loves to draw
and create things. I thought it would be
a good idea to have students choose
their favorite symbols and draw it and
write why its their favorite. This activity
took much longer than I expected. All
students were able to tell me each
symbol and a fact for each.

Reflection:
Most students got every question right
on the final assessment. It helped that
I reviewed before they took it. I think
its important to review especially in
first grade. They liked the word search
that they received after they were
finished with their tests.
