Direct Instruction Lesson Plan

Use these questions to guide your lesson planning.


Objectives:

Finding solutions to solve problems


Using conversations to help solve problems

Introduction:

By reading the book and asking questions


Conflicts between peers
Modeling and following through with directions

Instructional Content:

Discussing how one has resolved a problem


Asking each student how they resolve problems
Practicing with a partner by having them discuss ways to solve problems

Assessment:

Have students work in pairs making tortilla


Using measuring tape/ruler students will measure the tortilla
Using pictures and the prop box

Closure:

Asking them to remember the steps in making the tortilla dough without using pictures
Encourage students to prepare their own dough using note cards

Resources/Materials:

Book, pictures, prop box


What preparations are necessary? Have pictures on hand, ingredients for tortilla recipe
with step by step directions.

Introduction - Focus, anticipatory set, motivation

During story time we reviewed to character Marta and the steps she took in solving her problem with
her homework. The class is on task in doing homework and returning assignments. We will discuss
different ways in handling different situations that arise in our daily lives.

Instructional Input (Content) - Teaching procedures and student activities

Within a group we will have discussions on solving problems.


Ask students questions about when they had to solve a problem and how they solved the problem.
Partner up with a peer and discuss ways to solve a problem.

Assessment: Checking for understanding and lesson assessment

Have students work in pairs using book.


Explain to students to follow recipe for tortilla dough.
Ask students if measuring tools are needed?
Students will make tortillas and measure the size of the tortilla.

Closure: Lesson summation of learners new knowledge

Asking them to remember the steps in making the tortilla dough without using pictures
Encourage students to prepare their own dough using note cards
