What is PowerUp?

PowerUp is a Houston ISD initiative to transform

teaching and learning. The PowerUp program has
three main components; Technology, the "HUB,"
and personalization.
Technology - HISD aims to equip every high school
student with a laptop by the 2015-2016 school
year. As a phase-2
PowerUp school,
Reagan students will be
receiving their laptops
this January 12, 2015.
The "HUB" - The "HUB"
is a digital teaching and
learning platform that will become the center for
collaboration, curriculum, instruction and
communication for all HISD staff. In addition, the
HUB will eventually become a place where
instructional resources and assignments are posted
and completed by students. Students will be able
to tailor their classes to their own personal learning
style, and parents will be able to track their
children's progress.
Personalization - Colleges and employers now
want innovative, creative thinkers who can solve
problems and apply their knowledge to new
challenges. In order to create these types of
students, educators at HISD must work to
personalize learning for each childs unique needs,
abilities, and preferences.
