practices).
ii) 8.H.3.3: Explain how individuals and groups have influenced economic, political

creating a free account
iii) I will create one class account and have all students sign into it

b) Internet Archive: Audio Sources

i) https://archive.org/details/audio
ii) Students can also use this archive to collect sound for their soundscapes
c) Students will also be welcome to create original sources if time permits and if the
sources are relevant
4) Audio Analyses
a) Students should consider what types of sounds represent the NC industry that they have
been assigned. They should consider what time period their industry took place in when
determining which sounds to use.
b) Students should decipher which sounds are appropriate for use in this project based on
their relevance and source. All sources should be audio.
c) Students should recognize the limitations of relying solely on sound. This recognition
should allow them to think deeply about the sounds they must use in order to capture
their idea.
5) Product
a) Students will work in groups of 4. Each group assigned one NC industry
(Agriculture/Farming, Textiles, Furniture Productions, Technology/Research). The 4
industries will be repeated in groups dependent on class size.
b) Students will chose a time period to study their industry in. (ex. Textile production in the
1970s would not be the same as textile production today).
c) Students will create a 1.5-3 minute soundscape using Audacity.
d) Each group will present to the class: a brief statement on their industry and time period,
followed by the presentation of their soundscape.
