Re: Analytical Report
Increasing the protection of Correspondent Journalists
Introduction
Many correspondent journalists have died, have been
kidnapped and abused, or survived taking back mental stress along
with them during their line of duty. In the past 2 years alone, 110
journalists have lost their lives since the beginning of the conflict with
ISIS in Syria. Theres little protection for freelancers reporting
internationally at warzones and major events. These Journalists should
be considered as soldiers when sent to fight so the same experience
and protection should be applied to correspondents as well. But most
journalists lose their lives because they almost have no experience in
that field of work.
The purpose of the protection is to save the lives of Journalists
whether their experienced or not. Keeping such line of work alive with
a high demand from viewers along with great payments and benefits
would open many pathways for future journalists. Their reporting
authentic news with complete innocence blending between battles and
war zones, killing them wont win anything.
Research Plan
To increase the protection of correspondent journalists should
involve many types of training before even becoming one. The first
element is the physical training and it is one of the necessary things to
learn mainly for protection during the midst of wars. Similar to a
soldier, a journalist should be trained how to react to dangerous
situations. One way to physically interact with a situation at war is reallife simulators for inexperienced journalists that resemble war
conditions. For the journalists that would have post-traumatic stress
disorder, mental therapy should be done before and after a mission.
Results
This will result with a better reputation behind that line of work.
It is a job that many viewers appreciate because of the live news
coverage and has a very high salary that journalists would strive for.
But most importantly, it will insure the protection of journalists and
decrease our worries about them, especially of their love ones.
Discussion and Conclusion
Many people are aware of the fact that Journalists are exposed
to very risky situations but know nothing about the legalities of the
duty. People should be aware of laws that protect journalists and the

more people know, the faster the awareness and change becomes.
There are laws and rights that protect Journalists legally written by
governments. For example, the Geneva Convention suggested the
Protection of Journalists in Armed Conflicts and the Red Cross along
the Committee to Protect Journalists stresses the international
humanitarian law to protect journalists. Nevertheless, freelancers still
get killed during their line of work and it has been increasing year-byyear. Since there are laws protecting Journalists, there should be strict
consequences and punishments if those rules were to be broken.
Training and learning is very important but it isnt the only way to
protect journalists simply because the development of war technology.
Trainings would have to be updated frequently to match the
development and that would take time to master and teach. Therefore,
the most effective way is to strengthen the laws upon countries going
to war.
