Welcome Happy Morning

VU 161

Welcome, happy morning! Age to age shall say,

Hell today is vanquished, heaven is won today:
Come then, True and Faithful, now fulfil your word,
This is your third morning: rise, O buried Lord!
*Passing of the Peace
*The Call to Worship:
We come together today in the knowledge of God's love for
us through Jesus' amazing grace.
We come together to give our thanks, we come together
to confess our failings, we come together to learn more
of the nature of God, we come together to gather
strength for the journey, we come together to be
restored. We come together because we are God's own
and we are thankful.

*The Opening Prayer:

Loving Shepherd, through the gift of this gathered
community may we know your attentive care, abundant
beauty, and the power of reconciliation. We pause now and,
in the silence, we hear you call each of us by name and are
welcomed and enfolded by your love.
(silence)
Guide us, protect us, feed us, renew us, love us, as we offer
this prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven...

We Respond to Gods Word

Offering Invitation
*Response: Your Work O God Needs Many Hands

VU 537

Your work, O God, needs many hands to help you

everywhere, and some there are who cannot serve unless our
gifts we share.
Because we love you and your work, our offering now we
make; be pleased to use it as your own, we ask for Jesus
sake.

*The Prayer of Dedication:

We know that the God of justice is concerned about all
people and all places, and so we send these gifts into the
world today, not just to serve our own, but to serve all
those in need. AMEN!

Go Now in Peace

Go now in peace, never be afraid,

God will go with you each hour of everyday.
Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.
Know he will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love and show you believe,
Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there watching from above,
Go now in peace, in faith and in love.

Minutes for Mission

April 26

Faith Formation, Theological Education and Ministry Support, Community and Justice Work

Wampum
Sawyer, age 13, shares his experience of a youth program:
Last summer I was happy to be accepted into a week-long
program called Wampum at Five Oaks Centre in Paris, Ontario.
They invited 15 Aboriginal and 15 non-Aboriginal youth to attend. I
was one of the latter, and I found myself intrigued by what this
experience could mean for me.
We enjoyed typical camp activities like swimming in the on-site
pool, games, and team-building activities. One of the highlights
was a rafting trip down the Grand River.
We also participated in activities meant to help some of us
question the actions of our ancestors. One distressing day we
visited the Mohawk Institute, a notorious residential school. I was
personally horrified by the stories the guide told us about how the
students were treated. That was the most draining and difficult day
of the week.
We also learned about different Aboriginal groups beliefs. I
enjoyed this part of Wampum very much, and it has helped me a
lot in my First Nations Studies class this semester, especially what
we learned about the Medicine Wheel.
Wampum was an amazing experience, and I would go again in a
heartbeat. I would recommend this Five Oaks program to any teen
looking for a thought-provoking yet fun camp experience.
Thank you for giving for Mission and Service, which supports this
United Church of Canada right relations camping ministry. Please
continue to give generously.

Mighty and tender God, our gifts to M&S help your church
to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with you.
