CHALLENGE:
Dentist today operate in a conventional manner. Their planning is
aided by 3D imaging and the most precise actions during implantation (one of the most common dental operations) may be
helped by 3D designed drill guides, but these are expensive (not
reusable) and not flexible solutions. There is no practical solution
currently for a dentist to have flexible precision 3D guidance
during surgery, which would reduce complications and chairtime.
Currently.

Our solution is a virtual 3D system based on widely used Cone

Beam CT. It provides real-time positioning of the drill within the
mouth and provides a virtual overlay based on the CBCT with
sub-millimeter guidance into a HUD on the dentists glass
shield (smart shield). It gives microscopic X-ray eyes to dentists
so to speak. We also aim to improve existing dental equipment
with our state of the art platform including a smartshield,
precision positioning of the drill, and real-time extended reality
vision based on 3D imaging.

Dental implantation is one of the most common and costly (1-4000 EUR) dental operations. 3 million sets of implants a year are
placed worldwide, resulting a yearly turnover of 3 billion USD. The market increase is also the result of changing attitudes towards
dental health. There are hundreds of providers with 34% of the market covered by the top 2.

RESEARCH

Our main goal is to introduce a real-world usable, sensor-guided 3D dental implantation aid system based on visual 3D
tracking of the drill and the skull. Real-time information is
displayed on a specialized HUD on the dental shield. Our
research also deals with UX, practical and compliance issues in
order to create a fully market-ready product.

We are focused on the components of the system, including:

sub-millimeter precision optical tracking; practical issues with the
HUD in the detal shield, non-tactile and other possible control
options, dental aid software, including specialized medical
interface.

Our chief partner is the Semmelweis University (founded in 1769, with separate Faculty of Dentistry since 1955, located in Budapest,
it is hungarys cardinal medical university and one of the most prestigious in the region). Our product will be clinically tested and after
succesfully results accredited for medical use in the EU in the Semmelweis University. We also plan to use the University research
clinic for UX and other testing purposes.
PEOPLE:
Sagitta is committed to develop an implantation aid system based on feedback from dental professionals. Our philosophy is based
on a practical approach as we head towards a market-ready, a ordable product, which can integrated into any dental clinic. It will
revolutionize the industry by providing a more precise dental implantation, resulting in prettier smiles. We created a synergic collaboration of dentists, mechatronical, photogrammetry, IT engineers and UX designers.
