Given 20 names of prominent AfricanAmericans, the student will select,
research, and list 5 persons, identify
their accomplishments in a minimum of
5 bullet points, post a picture of that
individual, and 2 pictures of their
achievement, in a PowerPoint
presentation with no spelling or
grammatical errors.
Given access to the Internet, newspaper,
or weekly publication, the student will
create a sound clip (using Audacity or
other free sound recording tool)
describe a current news event involving
an issue facing or involving AfricanAmerican(s), with at least 1 picture of
the event, integrating into the report
summarizing terms learned in this
course. The audio clip will be no
shorter than 2 minutes, and no longer
than 3 minutes.
Given access to the Internet/YouTube,
the student will view a video
presentation of the Watts Riots of 1965
and the recent Ferguson, MO uprisings
and compare/contrast/connect the
events, analyze similarities between the
two incidents and explain your findings
in a WordPress blog posting.
Given access to the Internet/YouTube,
DVD, MP3 or CD the student will listen
to a selection performed by Scott Joplin,
William Grant Still, and Florence Price,
integrate the audio link by the artist
into a Google Docs page, insert a picture
of the artist into the site, and write a 2to-3 paragraph report on each person
combining the individual and the heard
piece noting the year it was initially
released or performed. This report will
be free of spelling and grammatical
errors. The report will be posted on

Google Docs for student feedback.
