4. TRAAP
a) April 15, 2015. No, it has not been updated because the article is current.
b) Yes, it relates to the topic of privacy. Publically shaming tax deliquents on social media is a privacy
concern.
c) Perez-truglia, Ricardo, and Ugo Troiano are the authors. The authors are qualified to write about this
topic because I retreived the article from NY Times, which is a reliable source.
d) Yes, the information is trustworthy. The information was supported by the United States Treasury
Department.
e) The purpose of this article could have been both to inform and persuade. It was informing of the new
rule that is being taken into consideration about public shming to tax deliquents, but it could also be
persuading the public to be against shaming those who owe in taxes due to the fact that it supports the
negative effects of public shaming, these negative effects stated could possibl be opinions however.
5. Compare the Internet and Journal articles
a) Personally, the internet article was easier to access as opposed to the database article because I am
not as familiar with searching databases as I am with internet search engines. It took me a moment to
navigate through the CCBC library website databases and depending on which keywords I used my
results were limited.. With internet search engines you type key words into the search bar and your
results are available immediately.
b) It was quicker to find articles through the database as opposed to the internet because database
articles are more scholarly. A lot of articles found on the internet are biased or may even be blogs.
However, I did encounter problems with my search results through the database when the keywords
were not precise enough.
c) The author of the database article is qualified to write about the topic because databases contain
scholarly articles, which are not based off of ones opinion but based off of statistics and studies. The

author of the internet article is also qualified because when URL's contain .org, .edu, or are from a
news website the sources are reliable sources, not blogs or articles that can be edited by those who are
not qualified.
