Speaking and Listening Tasks

News will continue this term with students being asked to speak to
the class on a nominated or free choice topic. They may bring an
object or a picture of something related to the given topic, to
support their news. Occasional power point presentations are
acceptable, as long as the main focus is the ORAL presentation.

It is preferable that students do not READ from notes. However, if

needed, they may bring written points to refer to.

The aim of this aspect of homework is to develop students capacity

for:
*looking at their audience as they speak
* speaking in a clear and audible voice
* delivering an oral presentation fluently using connected sentences
*explaining their personal opinions, preferences and ideas
* maintaining audience interest.

Our main focus this term is a science unit on Living Things. Many of the
speaking topics will be linked to this focus and form an integral part of our
class learning.
Thank you for your support in assisting your child with these tasks.
