I am a freshman majoring in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University at Qatar and in
search of a summer internship. I researched your prestigious companys website and
discovered that you offer internships during the summer. I would love to be a part of RasGass
community as it is a world class energy supplier that strives for excellence. This internship
would provide me with the ideal opportunity for sharing both my experience in the field of
computing and my creativity in the field of dealing with complex situations and problems.
As my resume shows, I have a strong computing background, have assumed an important role
in the Society of Women Engineers, and have developed a hardworking personality. I have
studied computing for 3 years in the International School of Choueifat and therefore have a
strong background in using Microsoft applications, as well as in sciences such as
Chemistry,Maths and Physics. In addition to this, I have joined the Society of Women
Engineers Association at Texas A&M University at Qatar which motivates women to pursue
their dream careers and carries out charity events to help the elderly and the poor. Moreover, I
am very persistent and hardworking, ranking amongst the top 3 students in the International
School of Choueifat. My high school teachers describe me as determined, honorable, and
motivated since I do not give up easily and work extremely hard to achieve high academic
scores and goals.
I have developed useful leadership skills since I shadow taught in school which included
preparing specific topics and teaching them alongside my Science teachers. My professors at
Texas A&M University at Qatar commend me for my communication and creative problem
solving skills such as thinking outside the box. They also note my ability to work well with
people from different nationalities which I have gained by interacting and communicating with
my peers during my time spent in high school and diverse university which consists of 34
different nationalities.

What?
We had three tasks to do which were the wordle, the letter of
application and the CV. The wordle consisted of words that were going
to help us write our CV and our letter of application. The letter of
application and the CV were written for a company of our dreams that
we hope to get an internship at. The letter of application and the CV
had to be a maximum of 1 page long. The main purpose of the
application letter of internship is to show the company why they should
choose you while the main purpose of the CV is to show what makes
you a good candidate for this company. This project is for an
assignment for my English class at Texas A&M University in Qatar and
the purpose of this assignment is to familiarize us with the sort of
letters that we will have to write when we actually apply for an
internship or for a position at the company of our dreams.
So What?
I thought that this was a difficult task mainly due to the one page limit
since I felt that there was a lot of important information that had to be
included but I had to cut down as much as I could in order to make the
application letter and the CV 1 page only. In addition to this, RasGas is
such a prestigious and a reputed company and a lot of students apply
for an internship there which makes the challenge of standing out even
harder.
Now What?
If I am given a similar assignment to do where I have to limit myself to
a small amount such as 1 page I will take a different approach of doing
so. The next time I have a similar assignment as this one, I will write
the most important points separately and try to include them in a nice
and compact way instead of having to think a lot about what I should
include and how I will include it as I am in the writing process.
