In this article Matthew J. Mitten, a law professor and director of the national sports law
institute in Milwaukee (Marquette University law School) talks about his experience in the field
of sports law. He talks about the different areas that are focused on and the many different
situations sports law can be involved in. It is relevant to me because it is the area of law study I
want to go into and he provides insightful, firsthand information about the career path.

This article by HG Legal Resources gave me more insight to the world of sports law. It
gives the definition of sports law, different websites for specific laws and acts, and also laws for
sports law practice outside of the United States. This website is full of information and many
different helpful links for definitions or information about a specific aspect of sports law. I trust

the website because it is an organization, so for anything to be published it needs to be approved

first.

In this article Daniel Kaplan, staff writer for this online journal, wrote about the classaction law suit that is currently going on between the National Football League and previous
players of the game. He talks about how the law suit might end up getting appealed, but that the
decision is many years away from being made. This is useful to me because this is the law field
that I want to go in to so it is good for me to be able to read and learn about some of the different
cases that are occurring.

In this Broward County, FL court case, Lerrin Goldberg the author, wrote about Danny
Fortson suing the CEO of the Phoenix Suns (a basketball team) manager named Colangelo.
Fortson pushed a team member of the Phoenix Suns down and broke said players wrist. The
manager then allegedly wrote a slanderous remark which is where the lawsuit came in. This is
useful to me because sports law in the field I want to go in to and reading some cases helps me
know what I would be getting myself into.

In this article Hakeem Onafowokan wrote about multiple different routes one could take
to go into the sports law field. He wrote this from experience, so I think it is credible and not
biased because he is not trying to promote one particular interest. This is useful to me because
he gave some different options that I had not previously thought about.

This is not an article, it is a list of different sports and entertainment law societies. It
gives many links to go and view the different societys webpages and is easy to use. This is
helpful to me because I can go look at what this field has to offer and that is exciting for me.

This is a webpage for the Sports and Recreation Law Association. It gives information
about their association and lists their objectives. It also gives information about a conference
that is offered yearly. This is helpful to me because if I do pursue sports law as my occupation I
want to be able to know what is going on and meet with other people who are interested in the
same things I am.

This page is also for an association. This one is called the Sports Lawyers Association. It gives
information about their association and what it would mean if one were to join it. This
association is different than the other one listed because it is not for entertainment as well, it is
strictly sports law. I find it useful because I would love to be able to meet with other people in
the same field as I am (if I pursue it that is) and be able to listen to their opinions and beliefs and
compare them to my own.
