Learning Objectives
Lesson One: (Objective One) Students will demonstrate an understanding of the impact of making a
good budget can have and be able to give examples of how they can make their budget work.
Lesson Two: (Objective Two) Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the
importance of making good financial decisions and how it can impact their lives.
Lesson Three: (Objective Three) Students will demonstrate an understanding of the continuing role
of the United States Constitution in the defining and shaping of American government and society by
being able to answer questions related to the topic.
Objective One: This objective aligns with SC Econ. Indicator 1.1- how to budget income, and
expenses. This indicator ask for students to be able to budget their income and how to incorporate their
expenses in their income. My lesson went over the different expenses that students would have in
college and how to live off a college student budget. This aligns perfectly with the indicator because it
is teaching students how to budget their expenses and income while also relating it to something they
will be using within the next year.
Objective Two: This objective aligns with SC Econ. Indicator 1.2- concept of opportunity costs and
how individuals and families make economic decisions on that basis. This indicator ask for students to
make economic decisions based on opportunity costs. My lesson went over how to choose what to
spend your money on and what should be prioritized and what should be bought only if money is left
over. This aligns perfectly with the indicator because it is teaching students how they need to manage
their money while also relating it to something that these students will be dealing with in the next few
years of their lives.
Objective Three: This objective aligns with SC USG 2.4- why the Articles of Confederation failed,
and SC USG 2.5- break down the United States Constitution. These indicators ask for students to have
a better understanding of why the Founding Fathers left the Articles of Confederation and formed the
Constitution along with having an understanding of what the articles in the Constitution mean. My
lesson went over the failures of the Articles of Confederation and the specific reasons behind switching
to the Constitution. My lesson also broke down each article in the Constitution and explain why each
bill was in the Bill of Rights and why it was implemented. This aligns perfectly with the indicators
because it is teaching the students about why the Articles of Confederation failed and it breaks down
the Constitution into a simpler form for students to understand.
Objective One: This objective is appropriate because the students are able to read, take notes, and
comprehend what is being written on the board. The students have some knowledge about the expenses
of college. This lesson would help reinforce that knowledge along with advancing that knowledge.
Objective Two: This objective is appropriate because the students are able to comprehend and do
simple math. This lesson correlates with the first lesson, so students have some prior knowledge on the
subject of spending money within a budget. However it will reinforce the importance of keeping and
mainlining a budget.
Objective Three: These objectives are appropriate because the students are able to read, take notes,
and comprehend what is being shown on the PowerPoint. The students have prior knowledge to this

subject as they have learned about the Constitution in several different grades. However, it will
reinforce their knowledge by going into debt of the exact reasons behind the Constitution being formed,
and each individual article in the Constitution, and why each bill is in the Bill of Rights and how they
compare to today.
