We present a patient with cluster headaches

who was refractory to multiple and acute
preventative medicine but successfully
aborted the attacks with the recreational use
of marijuana

What were these prior preventative

medicines? Where these methods provided
by medical specialist? Or were they more
home remedies? If they were prescription
based I am confused on why they were not
working in the first place?

The plant Cannabis sativa has a long history

of medical use in the
treatment of pain and spasms, the promotion
of sleep, and the suppression
of nausea and vomiting.

Being the solution to some of these

problems it seems that it would have great
benefits in terms of cramps, or other muscle
based afflictions. Due to its ability to affect
nausea and vomiting it also seems like a
great way to help people who have travel
based issues such as driving or flying
sickness. With flying and its promotion of
sleep could also be beneficial.

an increasing number of patients practice a

self-prescription with cannabis
products for relieving a variety of symptoms.

This seems like somewhat of a trap because

there isnt any way to self-prescribe in a safe
way because the average person will only be
able to self-induce via inhalation which now
the issue of smoking entering the body
becomes the issue. If research was done on
a alternate way of use then would it not
make it safer and eliminate one of the main
negative factors of this product?

An anonymous standardized survey of the

medical use of cannabis and cannabis
products
of patients in Germany, Austria, and
Switzerland was conducted by
the Association for Cannabis as Medicine

I was happy to see that this survey did not

just focus on one type of illness instead it
addressed multiple afflictions across a broad
amount of subjects. The diversity present
allows for a more accurate and informative
result.

Thus, this survey demonstrates a successful
use of cannabis products for the treatment of
a multitude of various illnesses and
symptoms

A positive test here I believe should be the

reason for further research and perhaps
another study to be performed on a much
broader scale. I would like to see how it is
when tested on a group of 1000 people
instead of 170.

Methodologically rigorous studies to support

this view, however, are lacking.

I feel like this is because it is much easier to

find studies that do not support this view
because to perform more studies would
require funding and more people are against
marijuana then for it so funding is limited.
