Craft 2
o Helping Hands I will use my hands for helping not hurting. This rule will be
designated to prevent hitting and other unkind actions throughout the
classroom and hallways. I will use this rule to ensure that we are being kind
and caring to our friends by helping them clean up, unpack, or complete a task
that has been asked of them with their hands. Students will be instructed to
never use their hands for hitting their friends or adults inside the classroom or
outside the classroom.
o Caring Hearts I will use kind words. I will always ensure that nothing good
comes from being unkind within my classroom. This rule is to ensure that all
students are being nice to their friend by using kind words, actions, and
reactions within any given situation. This rule will teach students to think
before acting and promote good behavior as they learn this rule throughout the
school year.
Throughout the beginning of the year, or when we choose to implement our rules
throughout the classroom, students will be expected to follow them immediately. I
feel that it is very important to instill your classroom rules to the class the first day to
ensure you have their full respect and to manage the classroom the best of our ability.
Students will be given small warnings when they are caught off task, but depending
on the severity of their actions they may or may not receive disciplinary actions.
Students will be given 3 chances to behave throughout the classroom.
o First Offense Students will be asked to sit in a chair at their table to think
about their actions when participating in the classroom. They will be asked to
review the classroom rules carefully and think about what they should have
done differently. I will encourage students to use their seat at their assigned
table as a place to cool down when they are feeling sad or mad towards a
friend or teacher. This will give the student a chance to get their mind off their
emotions by coloring a picture. When I feel that the student is ready to follow
the classroom rules and be on task, I will ask them to return to working.
o Second Offense Students will receive a face change in their daily folder,
asked to move their clothes pin off of green to yellow, and their parent will be
asked to sign their face change. Their face change will include a note
explaining their childs behavior for that given school day, and asked to speak
with them at home in hopes for a better day the next day. I will also ask the
parent to call or e-mail me with any comments or concerns. When the note is
returned, I will speak with the student one on one with positive reinforcement
to encourage them to have a better day today.
o Third Offense Students will be asked to change their clothes pin from yellow
to red immediately. The students parents will also be notified immediately
with an explanation of what has gone on throughout that particular school day.
I will recommend a parent/teacher conference to speak face-to-face regarding
their childs behavior and hope to come up with ways to prevent their poor
actions in the future. The student will still be able to participate in recess
because I feel strongly that children need that time to run around and get their

energy out to focus, but the student will be asked to speak with me one on one
before they can participate.
If a student choses to act out or misbehave in a way that will harm the safety and
well-being of another student or the class, that student will be sent to the office for
a visit with the principle or guidance counselor immediately. The student will be
escorted to the principals office or guidance counselors office by myself or the
teaching assistant to ensure the safety of that child and the other students, faculty,
and staff members present. This will automatically result in that childs clothes
pin to be removed straight to red with an automatic phone call or email to their
parent explaining what has been going on with a request for a parent/teacher
conference with the school principal.

I will try my best to have all materials planned and distributed before each lesson
begins, especially when the students are working on something else and they will not
be distracted. Students will always have their directions for each lesson explained to
them while they are sitting on their individual carpet squares with all eyes on me. If
other work needs to be collected before hand, I will ask students to leave their work
on their desk with their name son it for the class assistant to come around and collect.
With the teaching assistance help, this should ensure adequate instructional time.
I will assign weekly jobs to at least four students each week. There will be two
bathroom managers, a line leader, and a class role model. These jobs will ensure
responsibility building and allow students to become leaders through practice. Each
student will be given the opportunity to serve as a classroom helper throughout the
year with equal rotations. Students will move to different jobs and be expected to take
them with full seriousness.
Each table will have a basket of crayons and pencils for students use only. Each table
will have different color solid pencils so if one is found on the floor, the class and
teachers will know which table it belongs too. At the front of the room, their will be a
empty basket for dull and un-sharpened pencils, and a basket full of a sharpened
pencils. In order to get a new pencil of their appropriate color, students must place
their un-sharpened pencil in the full basket. Students will be allowed to get a new
pencil when it is convenient for them. Students will be allowed to use the restroom
morning time, center time, or any other time that calls for them to be on the carpet.
Students will not be encouraged to use the bathroom during instructional time.
In case of an emergency or any type of drill, as practiced, students will line up in a
single file line quietly to ensure their protection. I will stress immensely that it is very
important to be very quiet with no sounds to ensure their safety in case of
endangerment. When the class makes it to their designated area of safety, depending
on the type of drill, I will go over the class roll two-three times to ensure that every
student is in my eye sight fully. For any student that fell behind, I will report it to the
principle or guidance counselor immediately.
