Lesson Plan

Your NAME: Emily Wilwol

Type of Lesson: Graphics and Mobile Devices in Education

Lesson Plan Title Whats the weather

Discipline and Topic This lesson will focus on weather which is part of a science
lesson.

Target Population
Grade Level: Kindergarten
Population Characteristics: Learners will be an integrated classroom with a variety of
learning levels. No students would be classified as having a severe disability.
Lesson Groupings: This lesson will be a whole class based lesson.

Curriculum Links This lesson will act as a wrap-up/review lesson in the grand scheme
of a unit. Before this lesson, students will learn about the different types of weather and
types of clothing needed to wear in each. Students can relate this to prior knowledge by
reflecting on what they wear in reality. What will come after this lesson would be an
assessment of what students have learned. Doing this lesson as a whole group allows me
to see all of my individuals and how well (or not) they are following the information in
the lesson so I can help anyone who may be struggling.

Objectives
Students will be able to identify the different types of weather/seasons.
Students will be able to identify the specific clothing that goes with corresponding
weather types.

aligns.

7. Demonstrate the safe and cooperative use of technology. (5)
Materials and Timing
This lesson will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.
The materials needed will be a smartboard, Infographic layout, seasonal photos, seasonal
clothing photos.

Scope and Sequence At the beginning of the lesson, we will review the four different
types of seasons and the weather that happens in each season. I will ask questions such
as which season is this, how do you know, what happens during this season, and what can
we do during this season. We will then discuss types of clothing we wear during each
season and which types of weather. After we have discussed these topics, we will create
an infographic together as a group. The infographic we create will differ slightly than a
typical infographic in the aspect that a group of kindergarteners will create it. At the end
of the lesson, we will have a finished infographic that has corresponding clothing to
weather and seasons. (An example is attached)

Supplemental Materials In the case that computer/smartboard access is not available

the infographic could be created using magazine cutouts or things of that sort.

Evaluation of the Lesson I will judge how the lesson goes based on how many
students gain a full understanding of weather/seasons and the clothing that corresponds.
If all or a majority of students receive a rubric rating of 3 points then the lesson was a
success. In that case, I could even add some more challenging aspects to give them more
knowledge. If at least one student receives a 2 or a 1 on the rubric I know I have to focus
on that child or children and see what they are not getting and where they are getting lost.
I must then cover the information in a different way so that they understand what I am
trying to teach them.
