Title: Woven Glove


Unit: Weaving
Grade level: Kindergarten
Medium: Paper and Yarn
Suggested Time: 1 50 minute class period
Instructional Objectives (2-3):
Students will be able to identify a weave
Students can create a weave.
Students can use weaving in their artwork.

Elements of Art (1-3) line, color

Principles of Design (1-3) pattern, repetition

Materials and Equipment: Student made paper mittens, sewing needles, yarn

Vocabulary: Weave, repetition, diagonal and down

Art Production:
1.Introduce learning targets.
2. Show finished example of weaves.
3. Pass back students work.
4. Demo how to weave implement Diagonal and Down.
6. Assist any student struggles.
7. Collect and line up.
8. Assess learning target comprehension.

Art History / Resources:


Students work with applied weaving.

Aesthetic Questions (1-2):


Do the yarn and mitten contain all 3 primary colors?
Is the weave applied as instructed?

What is a weave?
Can you construct a weave?
