Dolch Basic Word List
(Grade One - Third Term)
Your child should be able to read these words quickly by sight by the end of Term Three. To help your child master
these essential words, please cut apart the yellow flashcards and then check the monthly Newsletter for each
week's five new Word Wall Words. It is important for students to try to memorize these words because they occur
frequently in text and many of them cannot be "sounded out." By adding only five new words to practice each week,
which have been taught and practiced in class, your child will build up his/her sight reading vocabulary and gain
confidence with reading.
