STRATFORD MENS SLO-PITCH

LEAGUE CONSTITUTION
Article 1 - Name
The league will be known as Stratford Mens Slo-Pitch League hereinafter referred to as the league.
The league will not be responsible for damage or injury to any spectators or participating players. All
members will play at their own risk.

Article 2 - Mission Statement

The objective of the league shall be to provide entertainment for persons in the community through
recreational games with emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play.

Article 3 - Membership
Existing teams shall have first priority. New teams will be accepted by a majority vote within the
respective divisions at a league meeting called by the Executive.

Article 4 - Officers
The election of officers shall be held at the leagues first meeting in each calendar year. The voting
membership includes a team representative from each team and the 3 executive members. The
executive consists of a President, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer. To be eligible for election to
the executive, a person must have been a member of the league for at least 2 years. The executive
may appoint a member of the league to fill a vacancy on the executive committee until a team
representative meeting can be held.
There will be a league convenor, which will be a paid position of $400 shared by the entire membership
as part of their season ball costs. The league convenor will be responsible for creating the regular
season schedule, collecting game reports, keeping and reporting statistics, and re-scheduling rain out
games.

Article 5 - Meetings
There shall be a minimum of three scheduled league meetings per calendar year. All teams must have
a representative present for scheduled league meetings. Failure to attend a league meeting shall result
in a fine of $25.00 payable to the league for each meeting missed. Team representatives shall be
informed at least 48 HOURS prior to the date of scheduled meetings.

Article 6 - Amendments
Amendments made to any part of this constitution or its by-laws shall be presented to a member of the
executive, in writing, at least one week prior to the second league meeting in each calendar year. The

executive shall then give all proposed changes to the team representatives at that meeting.
Amendments during the course of the year shall be presented to the executive, in writing, and, if the
executive deems the proposal worthwhile, a league meeting will be called.

Article 7 - Protest
Any protests shall be lodged during the game by advising the umpire. Written notice shall be given to
an executive member and to the umpire in chief within 24 hours of the game in question. A $25.00
payment shall accompany each protest. Should the protest not be upheld, the $25.00 fine shall be
forfeited. Any protest regarding rule violations shall be reported by advising the umpire and written
notice given to a Division Convener. Non rule/judgment calls by the game officials (umpires) are NOT
subject to a protest. The umpires association, the executive and team representatives from each team
involved shall meet to resolve the protest. A decision shall be made as soon as practicable and the
decision shall be final.

Article 8 - Rule Changes

Each division may, through the team representative after consultation with their respective team
members, vote on proposed rule changes deemed appropriate to enhance their respective divisions;
said changes shall be subject to approval of the league executive.

Article 9 - Membership Fees and Fines

An additional fee of $200 for a new team shall be assessed as a one-time cost. A team changing their
name and carrying at least 60% of the previous years roster shall not be classified as a new team.
The season ball fees will be presented to the membership and will consist of all costs required by each
team in order to complete the regular season and year end tournament, including a $100 performance
bond.
A fee of $50 will be charged to any teams for NSF cheques written to the league.
A performance bond will be assessed to each team in the amount of $100. All fines and fees will be
deducted from the performance bond. Any balance remaining at the end of the regular season will be
paid out to each team at the year end tournament. In the event that a team incurs fines greater than
the $100 performance bond, the outstanding amounts must be paid prior to playing their next game.
All team entry fees shall be paid IN FULL by the third league meeting in each calendar year. Any team
who has NOT submitted their entry fees by this meeting, shall be considered a team not in good
standing and shall be assessed a $100.00 fine payable to the league. Payment must be made in full
one week after the said meeting. If the entry fee and fine are not received by the set date, such team
may be subject to league expulsion.
