Proposal/Subjectivity Statement
One question that is commonly asked in the fields of science and religious studies is Are
we all descendants of one ancestor? The answer to this question has been answered multiple
times with many different possibilities. Different researchers have come up with different
theories about how humans were created and who the first people were. Some people say all
human beings descend from one female while others argue that human beings developed on
earth from primates that are now extinct. On the other hand some completely reject the idea
of evolution and turn to religion in order to answer this question. Most of the people would
say that it is irrelevant to ask this question, but I strongly believe that it is not just important
but also practical for us to learn the actuality.
There are several reasons why this question is worth studying. One of the reasons being
that by understanding this concept we can broaden our scope and answer several other
scientific questions like: how similar/different are we humans to/from each other, why
humans are the only beings that walk upright, and how does genetic mutation work? Another
reason is that it is important to understand the history to predict the future and prepare for it.
With so many different theories about the creation of human beings, I think researching about
this topic will help us find common ground between different opinions. Also, if we come to a
conclusion that all human being come from one singular human being, then it will help us
appreciate and respect the diversity which will further help in promoting world peace.
In order to research about this topic I have already looked at different websites on the
internet to understand the concept of creation and origin. I think it will be useful for me to not
just find scientific evidences, but also to study different myths in different religions or

civilizations. I plan to find some articles by scholars using the library catalog and also to find
videos by some dependable sources to include in my research. I also think I will talk to the
experts in religious studies and history to incorporate the philosophical part of it.
I dont think it will be easy to research this topic because a lot of times the
information on the web is based on opinions and are filled with biases. Most of the articles
have an agenda of convincing their readers that their way is the only one and right way of
understanding this phenomenon which makes it very difficult to investigate. Also, I think it
will be hard to understand which fact, theory, or opinion is correct and which is incorrect.
There are some sources on the internet that are unreliable which can also cause difficulty.
I have heard from different things from different people and this is a topic that I have
always been very curious about. I dont have much information on this topic besides what I
see on the new/social media or what I have studied in my classes that were closely related to
anthropology. Learning about it more thoroughly might help me find a definite answer or
maybe even help me understand this topic in depth. I think it will be a great experience and I
will be able to learn a lot from this project. Even if I dont reach to a conclusion, I will be
satisfied to know that I could learn about the various perspectives on this proposition. Also, it
is always interesting to learn about the history and how things came to be the way they are
today.
