To Whom it May Concern:

Please consider the attached resume and references as my application for the Development
Assistant position at the University of Georgia. I believe that my experiences in athletic
administration and fundraising along with my passion for college athletics distinctly set me apart
as an ideal candidate for this position.
Currently, Im working as a development assistant for Vanderbilt Universitys National
Commodore Club, the fundraising arm of Vanderbilt Athletics, while I complete my masters
degree in Sport Administration at Belmont University. Due to the small staff size and gained
responsibilities, I have been exposed to and work with several aspects of our fundraising
operation. Ive had a hand in both phone and face to face solicitation of annual fund gifts and
have helped the development officers write major gift proposals. Im adept with Ticketmaster
Archtics software handling many functions of our priority ticketing process and have also played
a significant role in the stewardship of donors and event planning. In addition to my time in
development at Vanderbilt, Ive also gained great experience generating revenue for the athletic
department through roles with IMG, Vanderbilts corporate sales partner, and as a summer sales
associate selling football and basketball season tickets.
In addition to my experiences at Vanderbilt, Ive been blessed to be molded by previous
experiences in the Miami University Athletic Department. As a student athletic trainer from 2009
to 2013, I saw first-hand the impact student-athletes have in the community, classroom and in
competition. I would be honored to be able to tell the story of the men and women that represent
the Georgia Bulldogs.
I look forward to talking with you further and appreciate your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,

Matthew D. Jones
