Laws and Regulations in the Petroleum Industry:

Clean Air Act - Legislation governing the protection of air quality by establishing
ambient air quality standards, permit requirements for both stationary and mobile
sources, and standards for acid deposition and stratospheric ozone protection.

Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act - Legislation requiring federal agencies that
construct, license, or permit water resource development projects to first consult with
the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in order to measure the impact on fish and wildlife

Protection of Wetlands Executive Order 11990 that directs federal agencies to

avoid, to the extent possible, the long- and short-term adverse impacts associated with
the destruction or modification of wetlands and to avoid direct or indirect support of
new construction in wetlands wherever there is a practicable alternative.

Mineral Leasing Act of 1920 established the authority of the U.S. Department of
the Interior (DOI) to oversee oil and gas operations on federal land

Mineral Leasing Act for Acquired Lands of 1947 extended the authority of the

Indian Mineral Leasing Act of 1938 provides for leasing of minerals on tribal
lands

Indian Mineral Development Act of 1982 provides for tribes to enter into energy
development agreements with the approval of the U.S. Department of the Interior
(DOI).
