Procedures:

Instructional strategies- 1. Ask students what they think it means to be peaceful. 2. After
discussion, read several mini peace books about different conflicts that arise in the
classroom and how to solve them peacefully. 3. Upon reading, ask the students ways they
could be peaceful in the classroom. 4. Introduce peace table and explain that this is a
place where they can invite their classmates to talk about a problem they might have and
demonstrate how to use it. 5. The students will then come up with different scenarios that
happen in the classroom and act out how to solve them peacefully. 6. The students will
then be able to integrate the peace table into their daily routine in the classroom when
they have a conflict.
Motivation techniques- to gain the interest of the students in acting peacefully, they will be
given the opportunity to act out and role play scenarios in front of their peers.
Grouping- whole group reading and discussion to begin with and then students will pair up
to act out different peace table scenarios
Probing questions- What do you think you should do instead of yelling? Is that a
peaceful way to handle that problem?
Lesson closure- after acting out different scenarios, I will tell the students that during
anytime in the classroom that they feel like they need to talk about a problem, they are
welcome to invite someone to the peace table and talk through their conflict without
having to ask permission.

Activity Analysis:

Activity 1- during this part of the lesson the students will listen to several mini books
about conflict that could arise in the classroom and how to solve them peacefully. This
part of the lesson supports the lesson objective because it gives examples of how to
speak and listen to peers in the classroom while also solving conflicts peacefully. This
activity stems from the students needs to be able to talk through conflict and hold
conversations with peer and adults. This activity also stems from the students desire to
talk and move while learning. Technology will not be used during this portion of the
lesson because the teacher is reading to the students, therefore technology is not
needed.
Activity 2- After reading and discussing how to handle conflicts peacefully, the students
will be able to come up with different scenarios that could take place in the classroom
and act out how to handle them peacefully using their words and the peace table. The
portion of the lesson supports the lesson objective because the students and
communicating and listening to their peers to solve a problem. This activity stems from
the students need to be active in their learning and build upon the knowledge they have
just heard during the reading. The portion of the lesson also shows the students the
correct way to handle a problem in the classroom, thus allowing them the ability to
problem solve. During this activity technology will not be used because the students will
