Lesson One Day One


Daily Topic: Rainforests, Science
Common Core Standards
Describe the differences between plants and animals (LS-E-A1)
Identify what animals and plants need to grow and develop (LS-E-A1)

Objectives - Have students individually be creative and create their own tiers of the
rainforest diagram.
Procedures:
List the order of your activities
1. TTW introduce the Rainforest Unit to the classroom
2. TTW go over with students what activities are happening in class regarding
rainforests.
3. Following intro to rainforest TTW use a YouTube video to introduce the layers
of the rainforest, what they are called, and which animals live in which layer,
what happens in each layer.
4. TLW go into KidPix and have them draw in KidPix their own diagram of the
layers of the rainforest. Demonstrate this
5. TTW have a overhead board on and have a checklist of what is to be included
in the KidPix.

Accommodations for Differentiated Instruction:
Resource Student: Teacher will be present for accommodations this student
may have.
Non-Native English Speaker: ESL teacher will be contacted for event of lesson.

Gifted Student: Will be given additional work on KidPix. They will have to define
the life cycle in the rainforest and draw that in KidPix also.
