Lewis Hine
Born in 1874, died in 1940
Lewis Hine photographed
immigrants, living and
working in cities.
In 1911, he was hired by
the National Child Labor
Committee to record child
labor conditions.
Hine was instrumental in
the formation of modern
child labor laws.

climb up on to the spinning frame to mend broken
threads and to put back the empty bobbins.
