MY TARGET PROFESSION
Please paste your initial discussion board post from L1, describing your target job:
My target job is in higher education working at the university level. I would love to continue my current work
working in the either retention or recruitment departments of universities. I have recently been applying for
multiple positions at ASU that work in early outreach and recruitment meaning they deal with K-12 students
providing awareness and knowledge about college in the hopes that they attend ASU or any other higher
education institute in the future. These jobs would be fairly similar to the job I hold right now and for some jobs
I have had in the past. I have always had jobs that center around education in some way or another, so I would
love continuing that upon graduation in May.

This future job would be working as a Coordinator or Educational Outreach Specialist for the Outreach
Access ASU department at Arizona State University. The job entails working in early outreach and recruitment
with K-12 students providing them with the awareness, resources, and knowledge to start college and pursue
higher education. The early outreach and recruitment efforts are done in a variety of ways, such as
communicating with schools around the state, hosting events on and off campus, and efforts made by the
student organizations within the department to reach out to students and schools.

The basic entry-level requirements of this job are a Bachelors degree in a related field and two to three
years of experience in the field. There are also desired qualifications for these jobs: seeking a Masters degree
in a related field, experience working with K-12 students, experience with recruiting or outreach efforts,
experience supervising students and professional staff, experience with executing events especially

skills section of 21st century skills (The Partnership for 21st Century Skills). This job requires flexibility and

first generation college students dealing with poverty in their lives. Productivity and accountability are
