Geography of my Hometown
I was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was educated in the Virginia Beach, Virginia. I
graduated from Tallwood High School Global Studies and World Language Academy. I loved
living in Virginia because it has so much rich history and was one of the original thirteen
colonies in the new world. While I was growing up in the Virginia public school system all field
trips in Virginia elementary and middle schools had historical value. Really the only way I can
describe Virginia Beach is like a tour guide because it has so many options.
Virginia beach, Virginia is a tourist city. We have the beach, nightclub life, and kidfriendly waterpark (Ocean breezes). If you are visiting this beautiful city with your family, we
have the Virginia aquarium, Ocean Breeze, Mount Trashmore skating park, museums and
historical house for you to enjoy. The Virginia Aquarium also have 3D IMAX Theater, a nature
trail, and traveling exhibits add to the fun. I use to volunteer there as a tour guide. If you love to
fish Virginia Beach Fishing Center offers half-day or full-day offshore sport fishing, as well as
wreck fishing, and deep sea fishing is available from Lynnhaven Seafood & Marina. If you
college student on spring break, our oceanfront has over twenty nightclubs above and
underground. Come and discover our beautiful city.
Checkout where the hotspot are for the city from the information center at the oceanfront.
As a child growing up, the hotspot in the city kept on changing and the underground party moved
from location to location with different DJs. We have numerous conventions and concerts at
Virginia Beach convention center. All graduates for our public school take place there. You can
easily get lose so look for a map or stay with your guide. If you dont know what to do for fun

check out the local library in the area because they place different events happening for locals or
travelers on the checkboards.
Check out our malls, Pembroke mall in town center and Lynnhaven mall on Lynnhaven
road near the oceanfront. During the pass five years, Virginia Beach malls have renovation and
upgrade the shops located inside and offer new attractions or different gadgets. Pembroke, locate
in near town center, has seen an overhaul of the building with the removal of the movie theater
and the addition of a target and different other new shops. The Pembroke mall is located on
Virginia Beach Boulevard right next to the Princess Anne High school IBM program and across
from the Virginia Beach town center and Sandler center for performing arts.
If you are moving to out to our lovely city. Check out the schools in your area. We have a
wide variety of specialty high schools in our city that can suit the career your child want to
achieve. If your child is a little brainiac look no further then Kemps Landing IBM middle school
program. After your child has finish he/she can move onto Princess Anne IBM High school for
continuation or seek our other different programs. Pharrell Williams graduated from Princess
Anne High school. In Virginia Beach, we provide our self on extracurricular activities, which
will give your child plenty of time to make friend or gain a new hobby. Virginia Beach is not use
to extreme weather such as snow or hurricane so roads might be closed, school cancelled and all
activities discontinued till weather clears up. We offer other programs which will provide
opportunity for your child to have a closer look at different careers. At Bayside High school, its
hold our medical program. Where our student have to complete 150 hour of community services
in the medical field. We offer certification in first aid and EMS to our students and have them job
shadow a medical profession during their school time.

At Tallwood High School is the Global studies and world language academy. We have
holocaust or war survivors giving their take on wars. Have our student visiting our nation's
capital and have multiple opportunities to take a trip aboard. The school have different exchange
student visiting and communicating with the students. The school provide themselves on their
multiple language. Student can take up to four language in the academy, but must have two
different languages one with 4 years and the other with 2 years learnt. The student have to do a
15 pages senior project plus weebly and internship to graduate. They also have to complete 150
community service hours and 22 cultural credit to verify culture activities.
Ocean lake High School is the math and science academy. It is also the sign language
academy so all student who are deaf or mute is sent there. Every teacher at Ocean Lake is also a
sign language teacher. The Performances art and military high school is Salem High School.
There all academy students have to finish 25 concert event credits. First Colonial high school is
the Law academy. Each student intern at a law firm or job shadow at police department and has
to finish five mock court cases. Take advance of the schools system and better the education for
our future students and children of your area. There are a number of private, independent schools
in the city, including Norfolk Academy, Hampton Roads Academy, Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Catholic School and Parish, The Hebrew Academy of Tidewater, Cape Henry Collegiate School,
Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School (formerly Norfolk Catholic), Baylake Pines School, and
Virginia Beach Friends School.
My education was better enhance by getting into the Global studies and world language
academy because it offer me a great chance to open my horizons and get better connected to the
world. My schools offered exchange programs and college prep courses which better prepare me

for the world and college. Most of my former classmates graduate and went to school aboard and
stayed connect to the exchange student that co-mingle in high school. Some of the student who
house the exchange end up going aboard and being house by the exchange students parents.
Virginia Beach is home to two universities, Regent and Atlantic University. Regent
University is included in Christian Broadcasting Network Center tours which house state-of-theart broadcasting facilities where the popular religious program "The 700 Club" is taped. The
university was founded by Pat Robertson in 1977 as Christian Broadcasting Network University,
and changed its name to Regent University in 1990. Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson is an
American media mogul, executive chairman, and a former Southern Baptist minister, who
generally supports conservative Christian ideals. He presently serves as chancellor and CEO of
Regent University and chairman of the Christian Broadcasting Network at the age of 85. The
Atlantic University was founded in 1930 as a four-year university, but closed two years later due
to the Great Depression. It was restarted in 1985 as an M.A. program in Transpersonal Studies,
conducted mainly through distance education. The first class graduated in 1989.
Get involve with your community and hangout at your local recreation center. We have
gyms, daycares and pools for a small fee and offer numerous activities for a fun time with your
family. If you are a foodie come enjoy our numerous restaurants in the city. Food is amazing, in
Virginia Beach Town center is a huge melting pot of different cuisines and restaurants, which
everybody can appreciate and enjoy. It is worth the money. We are a melting pot of cultures and
offer a selection of any type. We have a high percent of Asian in Virginia Beach and have
multiple international market places to try new selection of cuisine in. If you are homesick check
out one of them to get a little piece of home. Virginia Beach is known for being a tourist attract

due their lovely beachfront, but it is a wonderful place to travel because the numerous activities
you can participate in.
Virginia is the first English settlement during the colonial period. Both surrender in the
revolution (Yorktown) and the civil war (Appomattox) happen in Virginia cities. Eight of United
States presidents were born in Virginia. Our greatest state services is community, business, and
personal services. Our greatest growing industry is our technology sector and we are home to the
worlds largest internet service provider. Tobacco was once used as currency in the Virginia
economy and has been replace by livestock. Broiler follow by beef cattle is the states most value
product. Virginia is the leading crab and oyster producing state and it is delicious. Virginia has a
problem of over fishing so even the seafood to the local is expensive. During the civil war,
Richmond was the capital of the confederacy which is now the capital of the state.
The geography of Virginia is that its bordered by the Atlantic Ocean from the east, West
Virginia from the west and Tennessee and North Carolina from the south. Also Maryland and the
country capital Washington D.C. from the north. The weather for Virginia is usually hot, rainy
and humid. In extreme cases, Virginia get snow which cause the cities to shut down or
hurricanes. The state motto is Thus always to tyrants. It is a female to male ratio from 2010
census is 50.9% to 49.1%.Virginia Beach is located on the Atlantic Ocean and on the mouth of
Chesapeake Bay. Every year Virginia Beach hosted the East Coast Surfing Championships as
well as the North American Sand Soccer Championship. On the map Virginia Beach is located at
36.8506N 75.9779W. Virginia Beach is the third largest city in Virginia. Virginia Beach was
named the safest city in United States in 2004.

Fun facts Virginia was named after the Englands Virgin Queen, Queen Elizabeth the
first. Jamestown was one of the first original thirteen colonies that was founded for silk
cultivation after that was destroyed planted tobacco as a cash crop. The second oldest college in
United States, The College of William and Mary, was founded in Virginia 1693. The first peanut
grown in the United State was grown in Virginia. The Blue Ridge Mountains are located in
Virginia and is use in Ferrum College as a rock climbing class. Virginias largest private
employer is also the worlds largest ship building yard. Virginia is home base for the United
States Navys Atlantic fleet which explain the largest amount of navy brats in the school system
for Norfolk and Virginia Beach. The Atlantic headquarters of NATO is located in Norfolk. The
first Thanksgiving in North America was held in Virginia in 1619. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge
Tunnel is the countrys largest bridge-tunnel complex. Patrick Henry made his "Give me Liberty
or Give me Death" speech in St. John's Church in Richmond. Virginia shares the name of a city,
Bristol, on the same main street with Tennessee.
Fun fact about Virginia Beach is Amphitheater was built in 1996, features a wide variety
of popular shows and concerts, ranging from Kenny Chesney to Taylor Swift to Coldplay to
Ozzfest. The Sandler Center, a 1200-seat performing arts theatre, opened in the Virginia Beach
Town Center in November, 2007. Virginia Beach has 18 sites of historical importance in the
National Register of Historic places. The Edgar Cayce Hospital for Research and Enlightenment
was established in Virginia Beach in 1928 with 60 beds. Cayce was a psychic from Kentucky
who claimed healing abilities and made prophesies. Many of his followers after his death
January 3, 1945 still are active in Virginia Beach. The city's largest festival, the Neptune
Festival, attracts 500,000 visitors to the Oceanfront and 350,000 visitors to the air show at NAS

Oceana. Local law prohibits the use of profanity along the boardwalk. Gabby Douglas, gymnast
2012 London Olympics gold medalist, was born and trained in Virginia Beach. The Old Coast
Guard Station, one of the first life-saving stations in the United States, is one of several such
stations along the East Coast that are still open to the public. The Adam Thoroughgood House
was built in the mid-1600s, which may be the oldest remaining brick house in America. Films
shot in and around Virginia Beach include Psycho Kickboxer (1997), Hearts in Atlantis (2001),
Call This a Cry for Help (2007),[96] Judges (2005), The Killing Kind (2004), Moving (2002),
Navy SEALs (1990), The Satan Killer (1993) and Too Young the Hero (1988; TV film). Mission
Impossible 3 (2006). The Lynnhaven House, one of America's best-preserved eighteenth-century
middle class dwellings. Francis Land House and Historic Site was built in 1732, which is the
largest and finest gambrel-roofed house in Virginia. Upper Wolfsnare is a beautifully restored
1759 house that is a Virginia Landmark Home. Shamrock Marathon and SportsFest, which takes
place in March of every year where national athletics will come to participate. Virginia Beach's
jet observation parks permit spectators to watch the U.S. Navy's most advanced aircraft take off
and land from Ocean Naval Air Station.
Even though I live in Michigan and will continue life here in Michigan, I will always
love my home state Virginia. I remember visiting all the different historical buildings in the state
heard tales of settlers who help unite our country. I feel proud and sad about my state because we
are known for the good and the bad of history. Virginia was the first state to spilt off because of
war creating West Virginia, who side with the union during the civil war, while Virginia just
settle with the confederates. I miss visiting all the attractions in my home state and watching
people reenact the battle, the wars. I will also miss having the bragging rights of saying that

George Washington was born and raised in my states because of the move. All I can say is that I
love history and I love Virginia!!
