Subject: Internship
Dr. Rodgers,
Thank you for your patience in accommodating my internship. I am contacting you for a couple
of reasons. First, I would like to get some confirmation from you over the day that I must spent
at your school shadowing you. I would really like to spend Monday, April 6. Would this day
work for you?
Second, depending on the number of hours I spend with you on the day that I shadow you, up
to 8 hours extra to meet my requirement for my internship. I wanted to open the lines of
communication with you to see if you had any opportunities for me to meet those extra 8
hours.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

Excellent. We will plan on the 6th. What time do you typically arrive at school? I will meet you
there.
Do you have an online school activities calendar, or could you send me some dates of the
activities that are possibilities? I would like to try to coordinate things with my family.
Thanks in advance.

Kent,
Park right out in front of school and come in through the main doors. You may have to
buzz in as the doors wont unlock until 7:10 a.m. As soon as you come in take a quick left which
is where the main office is located. We will be going outside for lunch recess so dress
accordingly (comfortable shoes etc.). Have a sack lunch as we'll be eating on the run in
between lunch periods. We have a three story building so well be going up and down stairs. It
will be a great day. See you Monday the 6th!

Dr. Rogers:
Just wanting to confirm my job shadow day with you on Monday, April 6. I am planning on
being in Sioux City around 7:00 or 7:15. I will stay as long as I can.
I am thinking that I will be able to get 11 to 12 hours that day and my professor has said that I
am able to use travel time as a part of the arrangement. In all likelihood, I will be able to cover
the remaining hours at one of the events that you gave me as possibilities earlier. If it is not too
much inconvenience for you, I will confirm this part of the arrangement with you on Monday.
I am really looking forward to spending the day with you.

Dr. Rogers,
I was thinking about the additional five hours that I need to complete to finish up my internship
agreement with you. I was looking at Friday, April 17 and wondering if it would work to
complete all five hours at this event. I would leave Sheldon around 4 and would be in Sioux City
at approximately 5. Will you be there from 5 to 8? Including travel time, that would satisfy my
remaining hours needed. Please let me know what you think about this idea.
Below is a link to the article from the New York Times that I referenced in our discussion earlier
this afternoon. Thanks again for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
From The New York Times:
Senate Plan to Revise No Child Left Behind Law Would Not Measure Teachers by Test Scores
The proposal retains the requirement for yearly tests, but the federal government would no
longer prescribe how the states handle schools with continuously poor scores.
