Dear Friend,

I write today to ask you to join me in supporting Senator Arlen

Specter for re-election. Senator Specter has been a good friend
to Pittsburgh over the years and he is best situated to help us
continue our renaissance.

His commitment to the city and all of western Pennsylvania has

been apparent throughout his tenure in the United States Senate.
His decisive vote for the President’s economic recovery plan last
year has brought more than $100 million to the city and the
school district. These funds are putting people back to work on
the Rte. 28 widening project as well as the Liberty Tunnel and Ft.
Duquesne Bridge rehab efforts, just to name a few.

Senator Specter will be an advocate for finding solutions to

Pittsburgh’s pension problems and will continue to fight for
funding for important projects like the reconnection of the street
grid in the lower Hill district.

The Senator’s prodigious work ethic is well known here and

throughout the state, and whenever I have asked for his help he
has come through for us.

It’s also clear that the Senator is the strongest Democratic

candidate we can field in the fall and our best hope for holding
this seat against the likely Republican nominee, far right former
Congressman Pat Toomey. Recent events in Massachusetts have
reminded all of us that we can’t take anything for granted this
year. It’s even more important now that Senator Specter lead our
ticket in the General Election.

I am proud to join with so many other local Democratic leaders

and unions in supporting Senator Specter’s re-election. I hope
you can join me as well. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Luke Ravenstahl
