wUNICEF X EDUCATION Creative Writing Competition

Introduction:

Fortoomanychildren,though,schoolisnotalwaysapositiveexperience.Someenduredifficult
conditions,likemissingorinadequateteachingmaterialsormakeshiftsanitationfacilities.Otherslack
competentteachersandappropriatecurricula.Stillothersmaybeforcedtocontendwithdiscrimination,
harassmentandevenviolence.Theseconditionsarenotconducivetolearningordevelopment,andnochild
shouldhavetoexperiencethem.

UNICEFXEducationCreativeWritingCompetitionisastudentinitiatedeventhostedatRCHK.Theaimof
thiseventistopromoteUNICEFeducationawareness,suchas:

*Qualityofeducation
*Discriminationandharassmentinvolved
*Learningenvironment

Mostchildren/teenagersinHongKongareprivilegedenoughtohaveaccesstoamyriadofknowledge,but
thismaynotthecaseforotherslivinginthirdworldcountrieslikeSyria.AsIBlearners,westrivetospreadthis
messagethroughawritingcompetitionthatisbothenjoyableandmeaningful.Participantscanchoosetheirown
writingtype(shortstory,memoir)andcomeupwiththeirowntopic,aslongasitsrelevanttothetheme.
