Grade Level: 4th grade

Lesson Focus: Basketball shooting

# of students: 20 students

Equipment and Facilities: 6 basketballs, 20 jerseys, 20


poly spots, 5 basketball hoops
For this lesson the teacher will need access to 5
basketball hoops, 6 basketballs, 20 assorted jerseys,
and 20 poly spots

Safety Considerations: Students will be advised to


keep their heads up and be aware of their surroundings
when in limited space. Students will be told to not
throw the equipment in an inappropriate manner or
shoot a ball when it is not their turn. The teacher will
make sure that there is adequate personal space for
each student during the activities.

Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: Students will be expected
Previously Learned Skills: Students have already a

and repetition while feedback is being provided from
the teacher

Academic Language: The primary academic language


being addressed will be the cues of the skill. The cues
of the skill for shooting will be: Under, Side, Bend,
Cookie Jar

Objectives:

Psychomotor (P): Students will be able to shoot a ball with the correct cues 7 out of 10 times
Cognitive (C): Students will be able to say the cues of the skill with 100 percent accuracy
Affective (A): Students will show enjoyment through cheering for their teams
H-R Fitness (H): Students will be engaged in moderate to vigorous physical activity at least
50 percent of the time.

Instant Activity: Passing Practice

practice their chest pass, bounce pass and
overhead pass, with their group. The

Set Induction:
Today we are going to have a lot of
practicing a skill that you all love to do.
Today we are going to practice shooting a
basketball. These are the cues we will use
for shooting:
Under: place one hand under the ball
Side: place the other hand on the side to
guide the ball
Bend: Bend your knees to use your legs
when you shoot
Cookie Jar: extend and reach up and over
the basket sticking that hand into the
cookie jar
Purpose:
Knowing how to correctly shoot will help
you score which in turn will help you team
win.

Lesson Core - Task 1:
