This 6-day unit plan for a 6th grade social studies class focuses on Ancient Egypt. Students will learn about key terms, locations, people and events related to Ancient Egypt through videos and class discussions. They will create flashcards to study terms and fill out a map of Egypt. Students will then research and create a visual project on one of the 10 greatest discoveries in Egypt. The plan assesses students through worksheets, projects and class discussions. Accommodations will be provided as needed for the student.

days activity: 6 days @ 90min class period/block, Seventh day if needed to complete projects Day One: Pre-teach terms associated with Ancient Egypt, have students create Quizlet flash cards on their IPad/Laptop with terms, pre-teach questions that students need to observe for during video, & watch first 20 min of video of Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tuthmosis III, review questions in a class discussion format Day Two: Review terms & questions in a class discussion format, Teacher/Ed. Tech check each student flash cards, Finish last thirty min of video, introduce map of Egypt & begin to fill out important locations on map associated with Ancient Egypt video Day Three: Finish map, review terms/questions from video on Ancient Egypt, Introduce project concept & pre-teach video on 10 greatest discoveries in Egypt, begin to view first twenty min of video, remind students of project next class and to think of which greatest discovery they would like to research and make a visual for project Day Four: Review terms associated to Ancient Egypt/questions from video one and give the students a worksheet after the review that incorporates matching of terms to definition and questions from video one on Ancient Egypt, finish video on 10 greatest discoveries, tell students that they will be working on project next two classes. Day Five: Have the student/s tell staff their choose of project topic and help them find important information about their topic on their iPad/laptops, begin to create their visual part of their project from supplies provided by the teacher, allow group work to accommodate students who need extra help, review any terms that the students had difficulty with Day Six: Finish short paper on topic & complete visual aid for project, present project if student wants too, class discussion about terms learned during unit & reward students with a snack associated with Egyptian cuisine Day Seven: If needed Materials needed: Lesson/Content Objective: Number of students suggested for lesson: Accommodations: If needed for Student/s: I.H.Procedure: Step One:
