Ria Raya Celebration

Raya Kent was an annual activity which was aimed to celebrate Hari Raya with our
Muslim lecturers and friends. Hari Raya Aidilfitri was regarded as a merry celebration as it
marked a persons triumph and success on discipline and self-resistance which symbolizes
refinement and rebirth. The activity was organized by the Jabatan Perwakilan Pelajar and
every class had to participate and contribute to this activity. We were required to prepare
refreshments according to the selected states main dishes. We have selected the Kedah
state.
We had organized our class into few groups which were decoration group and food
preparation group. Miss Chan Mei Yi was the leader of the decoration group while Miss
Minday Lau was the leader of food preparation group. The foods that we served were curry
chicken, sweet and sour chicken, cabbage with egg and desserts. We also decorated our
stalls with two coconut trees which symbolizes the Malay culture in Malaysia. All of us also
decided to wear the traditional Malay clothes which were batik to show our respect towards
the celebration.
The Ria Raya Kent began with a talk by our director, Datuk Mary Teresa Kinajil. She
wished that this activity would unite all the students together and strengthen the bond
between the lecturers and students. Besides, the performances that presented during Ria
Raya Kent were traditional dancing, singing and poem recitation. All of the teacher trainees
and lecturers got a chance to visit and taste each unit food stall. We enjoyed the delicious
and tasty food very much.
Everyone had a fun and enjoy time. From this activity, we felt closer to each other and
understood each other culture very well.
