VOCABULARY PROJECT

Your group will research your assigned words. Dig into their origins: how have they been used
throughout time? How they are used today? Look at different connotations of the word. You will
do at least one of the following projects for each of your assigned words. Each project may not
be used more than twice.
Your group will present your project. In this presentation you will share what you did for each
word. In your presentation you must 1) Pronounce each word correctly and 2) provide a laymans
definition of the word for your classmates, in addition to showing us your projects.

1) BioPoem: Traditionally, a biopoem is written about yourself. It begins with your first name,
ends with your last name, and in the middle you write about yourself. However, for the purpose
of this project, you will write about a vocabulary word instead. Below is an example of the word
electron. The author broke the word into its two origin word parts that she discovered in her
research.
Eleck
Shock, current, vital, magnetic
Relative of anatomy, atom,
contemplate, epitome
Lover of friction, lightning, heat
Who feels hot, shocking, active
Who needs chemical action,
magnetism, energy
Who fears water, rain, diffusion
Who would like to see stimulation,
technology, mechanics
Resident of cities
Tron

2) Make a Facebook Page

Make a Facebook page for one of your words. This may be done on paper or in Google Docs.
Your page should include a profile picture, a short about me, and a few recent status updates.

3) Make an Acrostic Poem

Write an acrostic poem for one of your words. Here is an example. Each line provides details and
descriptions about the subject.
Trampoline

Tumbling through the air

Ready to become
Air born at any

Moment, feeling the springs

Puch you up
Over and around again and again
Light as a feather
Instantly rebounding,
Naturally full of
Energy
4) Make a Scrapbook Page
Find a minimum of 5 images that related to your word. Arrange them in an organized and
creative way. Write a 1-2 sentence rationale for each picture explaining how it related to the
word. These explanations need to be included on the page.

5) Make a skit that relates to the word

Write and perform a short skit that uses and/or explains the definition of the word. (Must be
more than simply reciting the definition.)

6) Make a timeline of the word

Research the words origins and how the meaning of the word has changed throughout time.
Create a timeline that shows how the meaning of the word has changed.

7) Make a riddle
Create a riddle in which the answer is the vocabulary word. You can refer to connotations, word
origins, word parts, meanings, syllables, spelling, sound, etc.

8) Run any other creative ideas by me!
