To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to you in reference to Mr. Ryan Troupe. Mr. Troupe acted as a pre-student teacher
in my seventh grade classroom during the fall semester of 2014. During his time in my
classroom, Mr. Troupe observed my teaching and planned, created, and implemented various
lessons of his own which he shared with my students. Mr. Troupe was easy-going, but he also
paid very close attention to detail, which I greatly appreciated while allowing him to practice his
skills in my classroom. He consistently submitted his detailed lesson plans to me prior to
teaching them so I could review them and offer suggestions for improvement. He took all of my
suggestions as constructive criticism and effectively made revisions to improve upon his lesson
plans, asking questions throughout the process to ensure that he was teaching what needed to be
taught. Mr. Troupe was also able to quickly put his content knowledge of the English language
into practice as he adapted his knowledge of the parts of speech in order to teach the information
in ways that my students would understand. When working with varying levels of students, Mr.
Troupe was able to adapt his lesson plans and activities to suit the needs of the students and their
learning styles.
Mr. Troupe was consistently punctual when arriving to the school. He was always dressed very
professionally in a shirt and tie, and always regarded my students in a professional manner, being
friendly with them without allowing them to think that he was necessarily their friend.
While Mr. Troupe was only able to spend a few short weeks in my classroom, I feel that he has a
bright future ahead of him in the education field. He is able to pay close attention to detail and
learn from his mistakes, which are two important qualities in a good teacher. He cares about
students and tailors his plans so his students are able to learn from his teaching.
If you have any further questions regarding Mr. Troupes experience in my classroom, please
feel free to contact me via email at kwike@cranberrysd.org.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Katie Wike
