AVID 10 Colleges I Will Apply To Portfolio Project

AVID 10 students: You must create a booklet detailing four colleges you are
interested in applying to, showing all of the steps below that support your
application process. The assignment includes:
1. Create a Cover page with a Title and your name.

2. Narrow down your career interests to 3 or fewer possible majors

(Create a page for each major with detailed explanations of why you
would choose each major, and what careers you would be eligible to
work in with a college degree in that major)

3. Select four colleges (1 local, 1 private, 1 out-of-state, 1 dream school)
which offer 2-3 of these majors (Create a chart and indicate which of
your majors each college offers).

4. Make a separate page for each college, including the logo, mascot,
location, size, admissions requirements, cost, and other information
which interests you about each college.

5. Create a chart comparing each colleges admissions/eligibility
requirements.

6. Fill out an A-G Worksheet showing classes you have completed with
grades earned, as well as classes you plan to take in summer school,
junior year and at Norco College.

7. Respond to either the UC Personal Statement prompt, or one of the
Common Application prompts, for a total of 500 words (typed).

8. Type an outline of all awards you have received and extracurricular
activities you have participated in (include jobs and volunteer work in
chronological order)

9. Find one scholarship you are eligible to apply to. On a single page,
type up the application requirements, deadlines, how/where to apply,
and amount of money the scholarship offers.

Attach your PSAT scores and your SAT action plan

The project will be presented in a binder or report cover.

Decorate the project booklet so that it represents you and your
college dreams.
