Saddam Hussein
Saddam Hussein was known as one of the most influential person of Iraq. It was like he
was the one that controlled everything. He was known as the person who was very strict and at
the same time was liberal towards the people of his family. He made a lot of progress for the
country and at the same time gave the people an idea that whatever he was doing is for their
benefit and not just for his cause, it was believed by the governments of different nations that
Saddam Hussein was a person who was good for their people and he was the one responsible for
helping and prospering the country Iraq. It was the media that had showed the image of him
being a good person whereas he was not good in reality.
It was Saddam Hussein that was held completely responsible for the Kuwaiti war and he
was a leader that was shown by the media that what he was doing was right, he started the war
against Kuwait making it look like he was doing justice to the people of Iraq and showed that
Kuwaitis were stealing the oil from the oil wells that belonged to Iraq, he waged the war and
this war was later stopped by the involvement of the US forces and led to the peace.
In the article that was written by Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, it has been mentioned that
there was injustice in the hanging of Saddam Hussein and that the United States government did
was wrong in capturing him and hanging him to death. I feel that this was correct that the United

States government did as he was the one who was responsible for many crimes that were against
humanity. It was not just by his power that he was very influential and making things go his way,
I believe that the media had made it look like he was a nicer man, but that is not the truth, he had
made people suffer a lot and there was a lot of discrimination against the people that were under
his control like the military and the interior ministry. He did not only make the common man
suffer but also was against the education of women. It is not completely understood but the
media has shown that he was a right man, as in the article it is also mentioned that his execution
was in a way that it was during the Eid, that is like the Muslim festival, but the media did not
only take like the soft corner of it but made it look like the execution was completely made on
that day, it is like they only talk about his execution on that day, they do not really talk about the
crimes and the torture that the people went thru in his rule, the war that he waged against Kuwait,
that they do not talk about but only talk about his hanging on that day. It is like a lot of media
people do this in order to get a good readers on their page and articles, but I think that he was not
a nice man.
It has also been mentioned in the book Unholy Babylon, Invading Kuwait that the United
States government would not have any intentions like to come between the Kuwait and Iran
affair. It was like the governments issue can be solved by themselves. It is said in the article that
it was a trick that was for Saddam Hussein to attack on Kuwait and to make that happen. But
looking at the facts I believe that there is nothing like that involved as it had a lot to do with the
rulers attitude towards his people. I believe that Saddam Hussein did it for his benefit and to
show the people that what he was doing was for the benefit of his people and not just by starting
a war, he proved like he wanted to go for war to show his people that he had something in him,
that is nothing but the power. He wanted to show off that with his power he can do anything, I

believe that it was his ego that waged the war and he tried to become a hero. He started war
saying that the Kuwaitis were stealing the oil, a reason like this would definitely make people
think that he was doing something correct as the major income of the gulf countries is oil, it is
something that is making them stay and build an economy, it is like they need to do something
that kind of feeling would come in someones mind and they thought that the leader was doing
was correct. But I feel that the media tried making him feel like a nice person, but starting a war
is not at all correct.
It is this media that has made people think of his image as a great person but that was not
the case. He was not at all liberal in anyway and made people think that what so ever happens he
does it according to Islamic law, but the bitter truth is that he did not follow himself, there were
many rapes and murders that were recorded by his government including his own son being
involved in many rapes, that were never spoken about and there were people always hanged to
death who did not even commit crimes, it was like who so ever was against him, he was
punished and no one could question why. The media always showed the people that the president
was doing everything for them and the truth was not like that, he was doing it for his profit and
for his growing ego. Whatever the media told the people about him they had to believe and think
that he was right, not at all giving any place for people to express their views or thoughts as it
was entirely controlled by Saddams government and faked the Islamic law called as Islamic
Sharia and divided the Muslim groups into two casts Sunnis and Shias and controlled only one
side. This was also shown by the media in a positive way that what he was doing was right.
It has been said by an interview with Said K. Aburish, about Saddam Hussein and his life
story and there were a couple of interesting things that were seen in this interview, it was
believed that Saddam Hussein wanted to take Iraq to the 20 th century and this was something that

Hamadi

he had eyed for but by killing at least 50 percent of Iraqis for doing so he was going to take that
risk and just for like the prosperity. But I think that it is so wrong for someone to take such a risk
that to with killing so many people it is not worth the thing what he was trying to do. In the
interview it is said that Saddam Hussein also talks to god, it is so not correct as he made people
believe such things and showed that what he was doing is for the prosperity, but then I believe
that prosperity is staying alive and not getting killed. Prosperity is something that one
experiences happily and gets comfort in and not by just killing or lying dead. It is one thing
about Saddam Hussein that people think he did right for the people. But it is not written
anywhere or in any book that killing is right for whatever the reason it might be. It was also said
in the interview that he had an amazing willpower and to achieve the dreams he could go to any
limit and was focused. But staying focus according to me is to do things that are humanly and
not just doing things like whatever one thinks of and just going and slaughtering people for
power and ego reasons, that is something wrong I believe about Saddam Hussein and the media
that he controlled in the Iraq was also wrong at the same time as he thought that it was something
that could be easily gone through. But that is not the case these days, everything is open.
Many people would argue on things like Saddam Hussein was a nice man and was killed
and that was wrong, I think that Saddam Hussein was a person who always thought like someone
who wanted power and would remain powerful, so it was like for the power he could do
anything. Whether it be inhumanly or let it be in killing a number of people, or just by torturing
them just because they spoke against the government. I think that is completely wrong.
I would conclude by saying that Saddam Husseins image the media tried putting as
innocent is completely wrong and the truth is that he was a man who was not right and he wanted
power, without anything he just wanted a lot of power and he was not a right man.
