Colion Noir: Ready, Set, Shoot
Try watching the news for three days straight and tell me you have not seen news anchors
report stories about home invasions and or shootings. It is our responsibility to protect ourselves
and the ones we love. This generation needs an individual who promotes responsible gun
ownership, Mr. Colion Noir whom has been a wonderful representation of a responsible legal
gun owner. He was born Collins, Mr. Colion Noir being his stage name son of an executive
chef and a registered nurse, graduated high school in Houston where he majored in political
science, and earned a law degree from Texas Southern Universitys Thurgood Marshall School of
Law

(L.A. times). Noir is seen as monstrous individual simply because he is black and as a

young black man he is stereotyped to be dangerous to those who do not look beyond his status,
therefore despite this image that people have he strongly promotes education and empowerment
especially towards the youth.
Several media outlets make negative comments about Noir because ethnicity is one
reason people use in order to justify their reasons and damage his image to label him a bad
influence on the youth. In other words those who make a quick judgement miss what Noirs
message and easily attack Noir based on his ethnicity. Moreover Mr. Colion Noir recently
became one of the leading advocates for the National Rifle Association Program giving Noir the
opportunity to get his message across, it is our responsibility to protect ourselves (Noir).

Though when Jessica Jessica Goldstein author of The NRA Just Created Its Own Netflix to
Convince Young People That Guns Are Cool, writes her article, she basically argues that Noir is
a fictional character whom was created by the National Rifle Association in order to broaden the
audience and reach out to the not older, white and male crowd specifically to the youth.
Goldstein goes on to say that Noirs style makes no sense that his hat choice varies asserting
that this makes him look more accessible urban. Goldstein cannot accept the fact that an
individual like Mr. Colion Noir is a spokesman promoting gun safety, she has completely missed
the point the whole show. She probably cannot give credit to an individual of color has been
given the opportunity to promote gun safety. She first judges Noir based upon his fashion then
slowly seeks to damage his image by stating that he is black. Though Colion Noir has a hip
fashion sense, judging him by wearing baseball hats strongly shows that naysayers like Goldstein
will make a big deal about anything just in order to label someone as monstrous with negative
comments. However we clearly see that Goldstein is quick to judge, because the article was
published way before the show had even aired. The fact that Noir is judged upon his hat
collection isnt as bad as Goldstein makes a comment on Noirs ethnicity, elaborating on that
Goldstein cannot believe a young black man has worked hard to gain the success he has.
Goldstein seeks to harshly harm Noirs image as quickly as possible. Her argument is
saddening because she comments on the pigment of Noirss skin and cannot look beyond his
status. Goldstein makes a comment that the NRA seems to think that the right way to address
the lack of enthusiasm for guns among young people, African-Americans and women is to dress
up two young hosts one female, one black and assume that this will solve the problem.
Goldstein acts silly when asserting that a black man is less educated than any other host of the
NRA. The NRA clearly has supporters of all colors, ethnicities and point of views but just

because Noir is a black man he is vulnerable. This article clearly hateful focuses on the ethnicity
of Mr. Colion Noir. Goldstein damages Noirs image for her own pleasure. Even before being an
official spokesman for the NRA, Noir had established and created a YouTube channel where he
demonstrates knowledge and interesting ideas about being a responsible legal gun owner. Noir
states that he seeks to promote self protection and demonstrates the responsibilities that come
when owning and or handling a firearm.
Mr. Colion Noir gets us talking about what it means to be a responsible legal gun owner
and ultimately educates the youth through his blog in order to promote self protection, thus
being a great spokesman because with his knowledge at least he gets both anti- gunners and gun
owners talking about this issue of self protection. So as a result Noir is nothing but an
intelligent individual whom is a positive role model to the youth. His interest for guns derived
from college, because one day his friend invited him to a target practice and he feel in love at
first shot (Noir). Through his short background he became interested in understanding the
knowledge of firearms. Soon after he realized the bigger issue of owning a firearm, that of self
protection. Reading about Noir and watching his YouTube videos I learned the knowledge of
handling a firearm and furthermore being cognizant of the responsibility that comes when
owning a firearm. Indeed it is our responsibility to protect ourselves and the ones we love thus
being aware of the responsibilities when being a gun owner is an important task to complete
because from my knowledge little to no states require class training for buying guns.
Noir empowers individuals to be gun safe, exactly what our generation needs a
professional figure who is skilled in advocating for gun safety because its our right to exercise
the 2nd amendment and thus be able to protect ourselves. And like Noir says, those who take our
guns away are no friends to us (Noir). Imagine a group of high school teenagers in the backyard

of their house what would are the possibilities that at least one of them knows how to manage a
firearm. Obviously the fear of shooting a friend rises and possibly curiosity kills the cat. In other
words being aware of the responsibility that comes when holding a firearm enlightens
individuals to think. In Noirs words trained gun users learn that there are a few rules to gun
safety (Noir). In the YouTube Video Gun Safety (Control): Colion Noir states four main rules.
One to treat all guns as if they are loaded, Two do not let the muzzle point (end of barrel) point
at anything you are not willing to destroy, three keep your finger off the trigger until your sights
are on target and finally four know your target and know what behind it (Noir). So the four
founding fathers of gun safety show that Noir has created a simple concept that shows the
responsibility of using a basic firearm (Noir). Knowing that in most states there is no training
required to buy a hand gun, makes Noir an approachable perfect representation of a responsible
legal gun owner.
Colion Noir is a responsible legal gun owner who promotes the self protection as he
educates and empowers many individuals, yet others damage his image and state that his
monstrosity is being young black. Noir is a well-educated young man who worked his way up
and succeeds to advocate for gun safety. Though many commentators attack his image based
upon his ethnicity he maintains his composure and seeks to educate and empower the public. He
educates the public by creating YouTube videos and chatting about the tactical side of guns,
responsibilities when owning a gun, and gets us talking about the use of guns in means of self
protection. Also Mr. Noir empowers the public by stating the responsibilities that come when
being a legal gun owner. He gets us talking about the use of firearms and overall he is exact
representation that the youth needs because he is a responsible legal gun owner.
