Coca-Cola

History of Coca-Cola

Coca Cola was invented by Dr. John Stith Pemberton, a local pharmacist.
It was invented on May 8, 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia.
It was invented first as a headache remedy.
One afternoon, he stirred up a fragrant, caramel-coloured liquid and, when it was done, he carried it a few doors
down to Jacobs' Pharmacy. Here, the mixture was combined with carbonated water and sampled by customers
who all agreed - this new drink was something special. So Jacobs' Pharmacy put it on sale for five cents a glass.
Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, named the mixture CocaCola
Coke did not do so well in its first year. And to make matters worse, Doc Pemberton died in August 1888,
meaning he would never see the commercial success he had been seeking.
After Pemberton's death, a man named Asa Griggs Candler rescued the business. In 1891, he became the sole
owner of Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola used to contain Cocaine.
Robinson derived "Coca-Cola" from two of the drinks ingredients: cola from the cola nut, and extract of coca
leaf, also the source of cocaine. Cocaine was a common ingredient of nineteenth-century patent medicines, and
by the standards of the day Coca-Cola contained a minuscule amount that probably had no effect on its
consumers.
Coca-Cola was completely cocaine free by 1929.
It still is today one of the most successful and richest company in the world.

The Effects Of Soda In Body

Coca Cola VS. Diet Coke & Coke Zero

The Cons of Diet Soda

It contains sugar substitutes, which some people

prefer to avoid. Some studies show that consuming
no-calorie sweeteners may actually make you
hungrier.
Diet coke has the same health issues as to those who
drink regular soda.
Artificial sweeteners in diet soda fulfill a persons
craving for a sweet taste, without the calories.
The fake sugar in diet sodas teases your body by
pretending to give it real food. But when your body
doesn't get the things it expects to get, it becomes
confused on how to respond.

Coke Zero
CocaCola Zero delivers the great taste of CocaCola,
with zero sugar. While it has the same sweeteners as
Diet Coke (a blend of aspartame and acesulfame-K),
it has a different flavour base, though both are low
calorie and zero sugar.

Better Beverage Choices
