3 per cent of pupils in 2013 reported that they smoked at

least one cigarette a week compared to 9 per cent in 2003.

Cigarette smoking is the greatest single cause of illness and

Identifying Show Format

What style of news broadcast are you going to produce and
why?
Community, and Related to Audience.

How are you going to ensure your broadcast meets this

style?
My topic is something that is both community and related to
audience because its about something very common, therefore I
think by just speaking about the topic my broadcast will meet these
styles.

Provide some examples of similar styles of news broadcasts

below explaining why you have chosen them:

Order of Content
Why is it important to consider the order in which news is
presented?
Its important so that the show flows well and its well organised,
also so that the broadcast can link to the two different stories that
will be spoken about.

What is the order of content for your show?

Introduction
Questions about
interviewee
Questions about smoking
Relate smoking to stress
Introduce next story

Why have you

decided to
order your
show in this
way?
So that my
broadcast is well
presented and that it all links together. Also so that broadcast links
with the next story. I will ask my interviewee questions about
teenage smoking and if stress could be one of the causes, the next
story is about college exams and stress and that could link and flow
well therefore it will look more organised and professional.

Relevance of Content

Who is the target audience of your news broadcast?

Mainly teenagers from the age of 15-19.

How is the content of your news broadcast relevant to its

audience?
The number of teenage smoking is increasing, most people around
this age smoke, this will be a topic they can relate to and use the
information I am going to use.

How will you ensure your target audiences interests/needs

are met?

I am going to ensure I use the most important information about

smoking so that they can inform themselves. Also I am interviewing
a smoker so people that are listening will know the information is
actually useful and first hand.
