MESSAGE
My warmest greetings to the members, officials, and various stakeholders of the
Philippine Federation of Credit Cooperatives National as you hold your 4 th Annual General
Assembly Meeting on May 24, 2015 at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City.
As auxiliaries of government in nation-building, cooperatives provide proactive and
like-minded citizens a platform on which they may participate in local and regional
development. These organizations play a key role in modernizing the countrys urban and rural
areas by encouraging investments, providing financial packages and flexible loans to potential
entrepreneurs,

and

advancing

social

welfare

concerns,

among

others.

You

are

our

indispensable partners in our goal to bring unbridled progress throughout every corner of the
archipelago.
I commend the PFFCO-National for your excellent work in elevating the lives of
thousands of people in Tagum City and beyond. Your theme, Wayforward: Integration of
Cooperative Networks, manifests your commitment to enhance the cooperative framework by
emphasizing linkages with similar credit cooperatives so that more people and sectors of
society may benefit from your collective initiatives. I urge you to continue being reliable
partners of government and an example to all cooperatives, business organizations, and nongovernment organizations as we mutually act to uplift the lives of the Filipino people.
We in the House of Representatives recognize the immense value of multi-purpose
cooperatives in national development. In fact, the interests of cooperatives are represented
prominently in our Chamber through the Committee on Cooperatives Development and by the
two Representatives of the party-list group, COOP-NATTCO.
We consistently look towards improving all levels of government in order to better
facilitate the delivery of public service. We believe that developing the countryside is key to

boosting our nations socio-economic competitiveness. I implore cooperatives all over the
country, including all of the cooperative-members of the PFFCO-National, to aid us as we work
earnestly to bridge the gap between urban centers and rural areas while eliminating obstacles
to social injustice and economic inequality.
