Abstract
This project was made to help me gain more knowledge of a realistic career that I may
want to pursue in the future. This project opened up a lot of new information and details
on how to become an Electrical Engineer. This project gives information from five
different topics that one would like to know for pursuing a career. Five different topics
were made from what Electrical Engineers do on a regular day to how much they make.
Gaining more knowledge of a certain career may end up influencing peoples job in the
long run.

Introduction
The purpose of this project was to research and gain more knowledge about a career
path that I may want to pursue in the future. In order to pursue a career in a specific
field, it will be helpful to know what it takes to be what is desired. In this project,I will pick
one field of engineering and divide the project into five sub sections and research more
about them. I will be explaining the education needed, salary, the daily routine and even
the different fields in electrical engineering. This will help gaining more knowledge about
Electrical Engineering and hopefully it will help in pursuing a job in Electrical
Engineering.

Education
Anyone that wants to become an engineer or anything should start taking classes as
soon as high school. For example, there is Project Lead The Way (PTLW), which allows
high schoolers to get an early glimpse of what it is to be an engineer. The
undergraduate programs at school usually include units covering physics, math,
project management. In the final two years of the program, it includes specific topics
in electrical and electronics engineering. Some universities offer a 5-year program
that leads to both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree. A graduate degree
allows electrical engineers to work as an instructor at some universities, or in
research and development. Licenses are not common for this field, but it is good to
get some licenses for jobs that have contact with the government. On top of the
education is it good to have concentration, math skills, and speaking skills as an
electrical engineer.

What They Do
Daily Job
The main job of Electrical Engineers is to design and develop new electrical
equipment, solve problems with any electrical equipment that is not working and to
test new equipment to make sure it works properly. Everyday electrical systems that
people use today wouldnt be possible without these engineers. This electrical
systems can vary from small devices like your iPhone to big equipment like
computers. Electrical engineering deals with electricity, electro-magnetism, and
electronics. It also deals with power, control systems, telecommunications and signal
processing. Electrical engineers work on projects and try to build new and improved
products. A prototype is built and the engineers run tests to make sure the new
product works correctly.This, however, causes electrical engineers to work long hours
meeting with partners and to finish the project.

Jobs
Electrical engineering isnt really a job that is projected to grow in the next ten
years. This is slower than most job occupations as every job or industry is growing as
the years pass by and more and more people are looking to find jobs. The increase
will be because industries will use electrical engineers to develop and apply new
technologies. The rapid growth of new technological advances will drive demand for
electrical engineers. If it wasnt for the technology in schools some of the things the
students have wouldnt be possible like computers and calculators. Students would
still be learning from the teacher lecturing in front of a chalk board. Companies use
electrical engineers to install technology to make any processes easier. Electrical
engineers are a big part of how companies work and how they do their job.

Field Applications
Electrical Engineering principles can be applied to a wide range of fields. These fields
include but are not limited to the following: power, dynamic systems control,
electronics,microelectronics, robotics and manufacturing. Each application
contributes something that supports daily life. Dynamic system controls are systems
that we use manually, like air conditioning thermostats that people use in our homes
and schools to regulate temperature. Microelectronics is the field that deals with very
small electronic designs and components like memory chips and integrated circuits for
computing. Power engineers deal with generators that are around that give off
electricity to the homes. Electrical engineers have a wide variety of different fields
that they can work in and help build and maintain such as schools, buildings Electrical
engineers have an impact on a lot of what people do and what is around.

Salary

The median salary of an electrical engineer is about $90,000, but other thing effect this.
Salary depends on where you live, because some places cost more to live in than others. Like
for example if you live in Austin, TX the annual salary would be about $85,000, and if
someone lives in Los Angeles, CA, it would be about $100,000. It is way different living in
Austin than in Los Angeles. If a location is more expensive to live in a bigger salary in needed
to make more money to live there. Groceries, houses, etc. cost more depending on where
someone is located. By the look of this, the location isnt a huge factor,but it is something to
look at. It doesnt make a huge difference between the degrees. If someone has a PhD, it
would serve as a basic security for a job as it takes a lot of time to get one and you need
experience for it.

Results
The objectives were all accomplished, this was a project to help learn more about the
the career of Electronic Engineering and it has done that significantly. Some errors
while making this was making sure that all the information gathered was correct
throughout. Some information was different depending on the website and making
sure getting the correct points at times was challenging. This project will most likely
stay in my Drive for future reference because Electrical Engineering is something I
really do want to pursue as my career. The results really show that it answered all the
point in the purpose for this project and it was a success.

Conclusion
Over the course of making this project, my knowledge on Electrical Engineering has
greatly expanded. This activity was all about making basically a research project on
an engineering type of our liking and researching the different components
surrounding it. Gathering all this information has helped me learn more about
Electrical Engineering and hopefully it can help me make a decision. Learning about
the salary, education needed and the purpose can help me for future references. This
has been good for me and Electrical Engineering is an option.
