Asian American Culture Club Constitution

Original Founders:
Angeline Mullen (Class of 2015) and Morgan Shoemaker (Class of 2015)
School Year of 2014-2015

Article I. Name, Purpose, and Authority


The name of the club is officially the Asian American Culture Club (AACC). The
purpose of this club is to help educate members on the different and unique Asian cultures
around the world, including but not limited to China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia,
and many others. The club will focus on different aspects such as country traditions, food,
music, language, and pop culture. In addition, it is the clubs responsibility to try to create the
schools first Diversity Fair to benefit the rest of the schools students. The AACC will abide by
the rules and regulations set by Hedgesville High School and the Berkeley County Board of
Education.
Article II. Membership
This club is open to all students who attend Hedgesville High School who have an
interest in any or all Asian culture. If a member is engaging in excessive disruptive behavior,
being disrespectful to the rules of the club, violating school or county rules, and/or being
disrespectful to the cultures of other countries, that member will be strictly warned by the
advisor. If the problem persists, with the decision of the advisor, that member may be removed
completely from the club.

Article III. Officer Positions


Elected positions of responsibility include one each of the following:
President- Leads each meeting; manages events and leads the club
Vice President- Assumes presidents duties if absent; assists and advises president
Advisor- teacher sponsor who oversees the meetings and events
Secretary- Records notes on club discussions and events that occur; maintain the records and
files
Treasurer- Main person responsible for managing money and fundraising
Historian- Takes photographs and documents the years events creatively; runs and updates the
website
Officers for the 2015-2016 Year are as follows:

Elections should be held the first or second meeting of the year, led by the advisor or if
possible, appointed president, by ballot voting.
Article V. Duties
Responsibilities for all members include the following:
Attitude: Everyone must be respectful to all cultures and customs from around the world.
Members must also be respectful and kind to their peers and the advisor.
Attendance: Members must attend at least one meeting a month. There will be a meeting
every Thursday from 3:00-4:30.
Transportation: Each member of the club is responsible for a ride home from the school
at the endings of meetings.
Participation: The club is a team effort when it comes to the Diversity Fair, if applicable;
each member is expected to contribute to the meeting activities.
Article VI. Meetings
Meetings will be held after school in Mrs. Shrivers room every Thursday afternoon from
3:00-4:30. Each meeting will consist of attendance, a cultural lesson/activity, and discussion and
planning of the Diversity Fair (if applicable for that year).
Article VII. Events
The AACC will host a Diversity Fair (if approved by the school each year) for the other
students of the school to attend. The club will be working together with the advisor and also
with Mrs. Ryan, who has offered her support for the Diversity Fair. Money will be raised from
various fundraisers approved throughout the year. This fair will be worked on together with the
French club and classes, and the Spanish classes, if they provide their support in each respective

year. The club also participates in community service projects such as writing letters to the
troops and/or visiting the V.A. Medical Center.
