Two specific incidents from her life that Dumas mentions is the incidents where
next door neighbor name Julie; and also; when she was in the waiting room
waiting on her doctor. The two broader reflections about people/society that lead
her to make is that people are not willing to learn other people name if its
harder or if it is foreign.

One metaphor that she uses in her passage is the metaphor about how she felt
that she was fake and having to look through x-ray glasses. And another
metaphor she uses was the one where she felt like she was in soap opera with
an evil twin.

How Dumas uses framing technique in pgh 2 and conclusion is by mentioning
the metaphor of using Spice to describe herself in a cabinet that could
metaphorically stating the ethnicities of the world. She also uses it in her
conclusion to tell the reader that the women will meet people of different
ethnicities spices when she moves to New York.

The authors thesis is that you should not be ashamed of your name and your
heredity because it can lead to problems in the future if you pretend to be
someone that youre not. What she wants the reader to learn from her story is
that we should be proud of who we are.

The humor in the essay that Dumas uses is when she says the names of her
cousins. How I found this affective is because when she said, My cousin name is
Farbod, means Greatness. When he moved to America all the kids called him
FartHead. My brother name Farshid, He who enlightens became FartShit. If
she did not use this humorous ways, her audience would of lost interest in
reading.

When my sister told me how her friendship with her friend no longer have privity
to her, she was incessantly harping on it.

The techniques that I can use in my own essay is using real life situations and
also using metaphors and humor to get the reader interested.
